SE'ECIAL CITY COMMISSIONN 2 AGENDA — May 8, 2000 7 I RESOLUTION 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF 4 THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, RELATING TO 5 AUTHORIZATION TO NEGOTIATE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES 6 CONTRACT FOR THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS 7 AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION SERVICES FOR THE 8 PHASE TWO OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI MULTIPURPOSE 9 CENTER. 10 11 WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to retain a team of consultants for the 12 design; construction documents and construction administration of the City of South 13 Miami Multipurpose Center, and 14 15 WHEREAS, pursuant to Florida Statute 287.055 the City published a Notice for 16 Professional Services, and 17 18 WHEREAS, the City received a total of seventeen (17) responses as a result of 19 the published notice, and 20 21 WHEREAS, The City having followed the requirements established by Florida 22 Statute 287.055 Acquisition of Professional Services for Architects and Engineers, 23 recommends three top ranked firms in order of preference, and 24 25 WHEREAS, The City Commission took the recommendation of the selection 26 committee under advisement and agreed to interview a total of five to include the first 27 three firms ranked by the selection committee, and two top ranked local firms, and 28 29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY 30 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: 31 32 Section l: That the City Commission at a special City Commission meeting of May 33 8,2000, after interviewing all five firms, approves the following ranking of the three top 34 firms: 35 1. 36 2. 37 3. 38 39 Section 2: That the City Commission authorizes the administration to negotiate a fee 40 proposal for design, construction document and construction administration of the City of 41 South Miami Multipurpose Center with the first ranked firm. 42 43 Section 3: That if the City is unable to negotiate a satisfactory contract with the first 44 ranked firm the City must formally terminate the negotiation and undertake negotiations 45 with second ranked firm, failing that undertake negotiation with the third ranked firm. 46 2 4 5 6 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Section 4: That the negotiated Professional Services Agreement is brought back to the City Commission for approval.
