ORDINANCE NO.
4 AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
5 MIAMI, FLORIDA, FIXING THE MILLAGE AT 6.373 WHICH EXCEEDS THE ROLLBACK
6 RATE BY 5.25% AND RESULTING IN NO CHANGE IN PROPERTY TAX RATE IN THE
7 CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2002/2003; PROVIDING FOR
8 SEVERABILITY, ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

10 WHEREAS, pursuant to section 200.065, Florida statutes, tax assessments for all real property within the
11 jurisdiction of the City of South Miami for the fiscal year 2002/2003 has been made by the property appraiser for Dade
12 County; and
13
14 WHEREAS, pursuant to the above -cited statutory provision, the Mayor and City Commission are required to
15 adopt a tentative and thereafter a final millage rate for the taxing jurisdiction of the City of South Miami; and
16
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
18 OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:

20 Section 1. There shall be and hereby is levied upon real property in the City of South Miami, Florida, a tax of
21 6.373 mills on the dollar for the fiscal year 2002/2003 for the operation expenses of the government of the City for the
22 fiscal year beginning October 1, 2002, and ending September 30, 2003. This millage rate exceeds the rollback rate by
23 5.25 %.

25 Section 2. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or
26 unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the; validity of the remaining portions of
27 this ordinance.

29 Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are
30 repealed.

32 Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect on October 1, 2002.

SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A BUDGET OF $12,737,500 AND PAY PLAN
FOR THE 2002/2003 FISCAL YEAR; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,

WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted a proposed budget together with a budget message and
supporting schedule including a pay plan; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 200, Florida Statutes, the Mayor and City Commission are
required to adopt a tentative, and thereafter, a final budget for the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Budget for the Fiscal year, as submitted by the City Manager, including the pay
plan, as filed in the City Clerk's Office, in an amount of $12,737,500 be and the same is hereby approved.
Section 2. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held
invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance are repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect on October 1, 2002.
