RESOLUTION: A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH H & R PAVING, INC. FOR ROADWAY RESURFACING SERVICES TO BE FUNDED THROUGH THE LOCAL OPTION GAS TAX TRUST FUND ACCOUNT NUMBER 112 - 1730 -541 -3450 IN AN AMOUNT OF $34,000; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: With the intent to continue providing safe streets for motorists traveling within our community, we have inspected our streets and prioritized them for repairs. Since most of our streets have not been resurfaced in years, we have created a resurfacing program that would eventually have all our City streets resurfaced within the next few years. To avoid additional bidding expense, we have obtained the attached copy of Miami -Dade County's contract with roadway resurfacing vendor H & R Paving, Inc. After reviewing the agreement, we recommend "piggy- backing" on Miami -Dade County's contract with H & R Paving, Inc. This phase of the contract will be charged to Local Option Gas Tax account number 112 - 1730 -541 -3450. Fund balance for that account, without this request, is $59,000.00. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve funding for the work.
