July 20, 2004 Purchase of Leasing Vehicle A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DISBURSE THE SUM OF $33,984.00 TO MEARS MOTOR LEASING FOR THE BUYOUT OF EIGHT LEASED 2000 FORD CROWN VICTORIA POLICE VEHICLES, DISBURSEMENT OF THE FUNDS FROM ACCOUNT NUMBER 001 -1910 -521 -4450 LEASE/PURCHASE- POLICE VEHICLES, AS APPROVED IN THE 2003 -04 BUDGET; PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE. BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS The Police Department has been leasing eight (8) 2000 Ford Crown Victorias for use as police patrol vehicles. The vehicles were being leased for the last 48 months; however the term of the lease has been reached. The vehicles must now be purchased or returned to Mears Motor Leasing. The vehicles are in excellent condition and are equipped as marked police vehicles. It would be cost effective to purchase these vehicles. The funds would come from account number 001 - 1910 -521 -4450, Lease /Purchase - Police Vehicles. The amount of $34,400 was budgeted in the 2003 /04 budget for this purchase. The amount of $30,400 was encumbered on 01/04/04 for this purchase. The balance of this account after the $33,984 is applied is $3,262.53. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute such contracts and documents that is for the purchase of said vehicles and this resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.
