RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DISBURSE
$16,000 TO TJ PAVEMENT CORP. FOR EMERGENCY SIDEWALK REPAIR, TO BE
CHARGED TO PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT LOCAL OPTION GAS TAX
ACCOUNT NUMBER 112- 1730 -541 -4640; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS
Specific locations within the City of South Miami contain sidewalk networks designed to
assist pedestrians with gaining safe access to their intended destinations. Some of these
sidewalk segments along the following streets were damaged and needed to be repaired to
ensure the safety of users, and to avoid the possibility of lawsuits:
• 6400 Bock of SW 591h Place.
• SW 63rd Avenue between SW 69th Street and SW 72'd Street.
• SW 681h Street
The Public Works Department immediately corrected the emergency situation by using
the services of one of our contractors, TJ Pavement Corp., who is currently under contract
for sidewalk repair and reconstruction throughout the City. The cost of this repair work is
$16,000. This amount will be funded through the Public Works Department Local Option
Gas Tax Account Number 112- 1730 -541 -4640, with a current account balance of
$26,000.00.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the resolution.

AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to protect the safety of the public and to
improve pedestrian and handicap accessibility by authorizing emergency sidewalk repair in those areas
requiring it, and;
WHEREAS, TJ Pavement Corp. is a contracted vendor for the construction of Citywide
sidewalk repairs and;
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission authorize the City Manager to disburse
$16,000 to TJ Pavement for the emergency sidewalk repairs.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1: The City Manager is authorized to disburse $16,000 to TJ Pavement, Corp. for
emergency sidewalk repairs.
Section 2: The amount of $16,000 will be charged to Public Works Department Local
Option Gas Tax Account Number 112 - 1730 -541 -4640.
Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.

control, not for inherent defects in the premises on which Work to be done.
In the event of any default of this contract by owner-owner agrees to pay all cost and reasonable attomsys fees incurred
by T J Pavement Corp as a result of said default.
All materials are guarariteed to be as specified. All work to be completed in a workman like manner according to standard
practices. Any alteration or deviation from above specifications involving extra rust will be executed only upon written
orders and will become an extra charge over and above the estimate.
