Specimen It 1 : Door frame was anchored to a masonry wall at the jambs with three (3)(*17 ;diamel'br...• •
steel wire anchors per jamb. Minimum yield strength: 85.4ksi, Minimum Lenstle strength: ••••••
87.1 ksi, Elongation: 18.1%. The wire anchors were located 16",48"and 80"away from the
bottom of the door frame. Each jamb was provided with one (1) floor anchor, projection
welded to the bottom of jamb. The floor anchor was shot to the floor with two (2)pins per
anchor with ITW Ramset Red Head 150OSD Series, 2"long x 0.3"diameter head pins and
0.125"washers. Interior of frame profile was grouted full height so that the wire anchors
were fully embedded.
Specimen#2: Door frame was anchored to a wood stud and 5/8"thick drywall partition using a two(2)
piece combination stud wall anchor system. A total of eight(8)anchors were used- four(4)
per jamb, tack welded inside jambs. Each anchor was mechanically fastened to the wood
studs using four(4)#8 x 1"drywall screws. The anchors were located G", 30", 54"and 78"
away from the bottom of the door frame. Each jamb was provided with one(1)floor anchor,
Projection welded to the bottom of jamb. Floor anchors were connected to the floor with two
(2) '/•"x 4"steel lag bolts per anchor.
Specimen#3: Door frame was anchored to masonry wall at the jambs using an existing wall anchoring
system. Each jamb was punched and dimpled to receive four(4)Rawl-Bolt steel,zinc
plated, 3/8"diameter x 5"long,sleeve anchors located 6", 30", 54"and 78"away from the
bottom of the door frame. An 18 gage steel anchor guide, lack welded to [lie interior of the
jamb profile was provided at each bolt. Each jamb was provided with one (1)floor anchor,
Projection welded to bottom of jamb. Floor anchors were not screwed to the floor

Test Method Missile shall be a solid S43 nominal 2" x 4" 112 Southern Pine measuring between 7'and
9' in length, weighing between 9 and 9.5 pounds. The missile shall be propelled from a
4"diameter compressed air canon with the end of the canon located at a distance of 9'
plus the missile length from the specimen. The missile shall be propelled at a velocity of
50 feet per second (fps) t 1 fps. The specimen shall be impacted on the exterior side of
the assembly. Being an "out-swinging" unit, the impacts are delivered to the pull side or
front of the specimen. Each of three (3) specimens shall be impacted within a 5" radius

Test Method : This test involves subjecting an assembly to a series of infiltration and load tests in the
following sequence.

For the Air Infiltration Test the assembly is mounted on the lest alfparalus and.air is. :

Measurements are taken to determine the amount of air leakage ltiroug& the c4cior ar+d ..-•
frame assembly. The procedure is then repeated at the 6.24 psf IoW 0000
In the Uniform Static Load Tests air is exhausted from the sealed chamber until the
specified load it reached. The load is held for 30 seconds and then released.
Measurements for maximum deflection, permanent set after release and percentage of
recovery are taken. This test is performed under both positive (from push side of door)
and negative (from pull side of door)loads at the three (3) different load levels for each
direction.
For the Water Leakage Test air is exhausted from the sealed chamber and mainlamcd
at a level of 15% of the design pressure for a 15 minute period. During the entire period
water is sprayed over the assembly at a rate of 5 gallons per hour per square foot of
assembly area.
The Forced Entry Test involves the application of 300 pound load forces applied
separately at the top, the bottom and at the latch location, loading the door for a period
of 5 minutes at each location.
Acceptance Criteriat Air Infiltration may not exceed 0.37 cfm per lineal foot of door perimeter at boll, the 1.57
and 6.24 psf levels for Commercial and Heavy Commercial Doors.
Uniform Static Load requires that the assembly remains latched, has 80 0/6 recovery after
150% design pressure loading, 90% recovery after 100% of design pressure loading

and a maximum of 0.4% of span permanent set.
