Noise Concerns in the Business District
Action Taken:
As a follow -up to noise issues brought up during the last City Commission meeting, I
have reminded all the businesses in our business district (downtown) about the
conditions of their outdoor dining permit and Section 15 -82 of the Code. Attached are
some of the letters sent to the businesses.

This letter shall serve as a reminder to all establishments which hold Outdoor Seating/Dining
Permits and also have permission to have amplified sound in the outdoor seating area. As
indicated in your executed sound agreement: "...sound must be kept at a low volume so as to not
disturb neighboring businesses, residences or to be audible in neighboring residential distracts. "
In order to assure that the above sound agreement condition is followed, Code Enforcement
officers and Police officers will be enforcing current regulations contained in the City's Code.
Specifically, the officers will enforce Section 15 -82 which provides that it is unlawful if "...
noise or music is audible at a distance of 100 feet from the building, structure, or premises in
which or from which it is produced "
Failure to adhere to the amplified sound agreement or a violation of City Code Section 15 -82
may result in the revocation of the approval authorizing the use of amplified sound and your
occupational license.
