5 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
6 SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE CO- DESIGNATION OF S.W. 59TH
7 FROM S.W. 80TH STREET TO S.W. 72" STREET AS "AMERICAN LEGION WAY ".
8 AND AUTHHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT THIS RESOLUTION
9 TO MIAMI -DADE COUNTY AND TO TAKE ALL OTHER RELEVANT ACTIONS;
10 PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

12 WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor and Commission of the City of South
13 Miami to co- designate the portion of S.W. 59th Avenue from S.W. 72nd Street to S.W.
14 80th Street in the City of South Miami as "American Legion Way "; and
15
16 WHEREAS, via Senate Bill 1604, the State Legislators already designated SW
17 59th Avenue from SW 72nd Street to SW 80th Street as "American Legion Way" and
18 authorized Department of Transportation to erect suitable markers; and
19
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
21 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, that:
22
23 Section 1: The portion of S.W. 59th Avenue in Miami -Dade County from S W.
24 80th Street to S.W. 72 ❑d Street shall be designated as "American Legion Way" as soon as
25 authorized by Miami Dade County, be known in and by the City of South Miami as
26 "American Le_ gion Way ", and signs shall be made and placed above the present street
27 declaring the designation and to ask the County to proceed with the installation of new
28 signs.

Section 2: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon approval.

Road 46A east to the county line is designated as the "Major
Claude A. Gnann Memorial Highway." -
(2) The Department of Transportation is directed to erect
suitable markers designating the Major Claude A. Gnann Memorial
Hiqhway as described in subsection (1).

designated as "Reverend Dr. C.P. Preston, Jr. Street."

Section 33. Section 589.19, Florida Statutes, is amended to

320 589.19 Creation of certain state forests; naming of certain
321 state forests.- -
322 (1) When the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement
323 Trust Fund, any state agency, or any agency created by state law,
324 authorized to accept reforestation lands in the name of the
325 state, approve the recommendations of the Division of Forestry in
326 reference to the acquisition of land and acquire such land, the
327 said board, state agency, or agency created by state law, may
328 formally designate and dedicate any area as a reforestation
329 project, or state forest, and where so designated and dedicated
330 such area shall be under the administration of the division which
331 shall be authorized to manage and administer said area according
33.2 „ to _the, purpose _for, which it- was__ designated and _dedicated.
333 (2) The first state forest acquired by the Board of
334 Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund in Baker County
335 is to be named the John M. Bethea State Forest. This is to honor
336 Mr. John M. Bethea who was Florida's fourth state forester and
337 whose distinguished career in state government spanned 46 years
338 and who is a native of Baker County.
339 (3) The state forest managed by the Division of Forestry in
340 Seminole County is to be named the Charles H. Bronson State
341 Forest to honor Charles H. Bronson, the tenth Commissioner of
342 Agriculture, for his distinguished contribution to this state's
343 agriculture and natural resources.
344 Section 34. Rolando Encinosa Road designated; Department of
345 Transportation to erect suitable markers.- -
346 (1) That portion of SR 972/ SW 22nd Street between SW 22nd
347 Avenue and SW 24th Avenue in Miami -Dade County is designated as
3481 "Rolando Encinosa Road."

Miami All - American Parkway" by chapter 2003 -298, Laws of Florida,
is redesignated as "All America Parkway."
(2) The Department of Transportation is directed to erect
suitable markers redesignating the South Miami All - American
Parkway as All America Parkway as described in section (1).

396 Miami -Dade County from Hibiscus Street to Ohio Street is
397 designated as "Will James Johnson Road."
398 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to erect
399 suitable markers designating Will James Johnson Road as described
400 in subsection (1).
401 Section 41. Martha Flores Way designated; Department of
402 Transportation to erect suitable markers.- -
403 (1) The portion of 8th Street in Miami -Dade County from SW
404 42nd Avenue to SW 47th Avenue is designated as "Martha Flores
405 Way."
406 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to erect

409 Section 42. Rabbi Barry Tabachnikoff Avenue designated;
410 Department of Transportation to erect suitable markers.- -
411 (1) The portion of SW 87th Ave from SW 94th St to SW 95th
412 Street is designated as "Rabbi Barry Tabachnikoff Avenue."
413 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to erect
414 suitable markers designating Rabbi Barry Tabachnikoff Avenue as
415 described in subsection (1).
416 Section 43. Notwithstanding any provision of chapter 74 -8
417 400, Laws of Florida, public funds may be used for the alteration
418 of Old Cutler Road, between Southwest 136th Street and Southwest
41.9 184th Street, in the Village of Palmetto Bay.
420 (1) The alteration may include the installation of
421 sidewalks, curbing, and landscaping to enhance pedestrian access
422 to the road.
423 (2) The official approval of the project by the Department
424 of State must be obtained before any alteration is started.
425 Section 44. Senator Daniel Webster Building designated;
426 Department of Transportation to erect suitable markers.- -
427 .(l). The Department of Transportation Turnpike District
428 Headquarters Building located at the Turkey Lake Service Plaza at
429 Turnpike Mile Post 263 is designated as the "Senator Daniel
430 Webster Building."
431 (2) The Department of Transportation may erect suitable
432 markers designating the "Senator Daniel Webster Building" as
433 described in subsection (1).
434 Section 45. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
