Mr. Carlton: Date: November 23, 2009 ale, In reference to the above captioned and as per your request, please find below our findings and action taken. Request: To report on a complaint in reference to the Automated Waste collection trucks damaging/crushing the waste containers, we did experience a situation when we first started operating our newest truck No. 2134. The operators noticed that at times the automated arm would damage a container during pick up. The problem was reported to the Solid Waste Superintendent and the Motor Pool Supervisor. Action Taken: The Motor Pool mechanics made adjustments to the straps in the automated arm and reduced the trucks hydraulic pressure. The adjustments have corrected the problem. We continue to monitor all trucks and have instructed all operators to report any malfunctions to their Supervisor for immediate attention.
