Richardson II, Chief of Police November 17, 2009 Reserve Officer Program a (d) The Police Reserve Officer program was terminated last year by the former City Manager. At this time, we are announcing that the program will be reestablished. The benefits of this program are as follows: • Increased police presence and visibility • Better ability to staff special programs and projects • Increase Officer Safety • Reduce Overtime • Potential full -time employees when positions are available Reserve Officers are required to be certified at their own expense or through their previous police employment. They must successfully complete the same rigorous application and pre - employment screening. as regular full -time police officers. For $1.00 per year, they are required to work minimum of 16 hours a month without further compensation. In the past, this has been very successful and is a major benefit to the police department and the citizens we serves. END OF MEMORANDUM
