RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, RELATING TO
BOARDS AND COMMITTEES; CREATING A PENSION AD HOC
COMMITTEE; WHICH COMMITTEE SHALL MAKE
RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE CITY COMMISSION
REGARDING ALTERNATIVES TO THE CITY'S PENSION
SYSTEM; APPOINTING COMMITTEE MEMBERS; PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article II section 8 of the charter, the Mayor with the
advice and consent of the Commission is empowered to establish such boards and
agencies as it deems advisable; and,
WHEREAS, the Commission desires to appoint a Pension Ad Hoc Committee,
consisting of five members in order to provide recommendations to the Commission with
alternatives to the City's pension system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE
CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby creates the Pension Ad Hoc
Committee. The committee shall consist of five members. The committee shall make
recommendations to the Commission on any possible reform of the election process.
Section 2. The Commission appoints the following to serve on the committee:

Commissioner Newman:
Commissioner Sellars:
Section 3. The committee members shall serve for a six month term, or until a
recommendation is accepted by the Commission, whichever date is sooner. The
committee members shall serve without compensation; provided, however, the City will
reimburse expenses incurred.

Section 4. Meetings of the Pension Ad Hoc Committee shall be subject to the
Florida Sunshine laws, including the public meeting law and the public records law. All
meetings of the committee shall be advertised in a conspicuous place at City Hall and
open to the public.
Section 6. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.
