RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, RELATING TO CITY
MANAGER; APPOINTING AN ACTING CITY MANAGER;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Art. III, Section 4 A, of the City Charter, the Mayor and
City Commission 'of the City of South Miami have the authority to appoint an acting city
manager to serve for a period of not longer than 90 days upon the resignation or during
the leave of absence of the city manager; and,
WHEREAS, the city manager, Mr. W. Ajibola Balogun, has been terminated,
effective immediately, by a majority vote of the City Commission, at its meeting of
October 6, 2009; and,
WHEREAS, the majority of the City Commission desire to appoint
to serve as acting city manager until a permanent city manager is
selected by the commission.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA;
Section 1. is appointed to serve as acting city
manager until a permanent city manager is selected, or for a period of time of not longer
than 90 days. As acting city manager, shall have all of the powers and
responsibilities as the city manager under the city charter and the law. The acting city
manager shall have the authority to co -sign checks on behalf of the city. The acting city
manager shall be paid a fee of $ per year for the period of time s /he serves, and
no benefits.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.
