CHANGE IN PROPERTY TAX RATE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH
MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2009/2010;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Request: Approval of the proposed millage rate of 5.2790 for Fiscal Year 2009-
2010; which is the same millage rate approved for Fiscal Year 2008 -2009.
The. proposed rate is 5.97% lower than the rollback rate of 5.6140. This
results in a 0% change in the property tax rate.

CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, LEVYING THE MILLAGE OF
5.2790 WHICH IS 5.97% LOWER THAN THE ROLLBACK OF 5.6140 AND
RESULTING IN 0.00% CHANGE IN PROPERTY TAX RATE IN THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2009/2010;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT AND
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 200.065, Florida Statutes, tax assessments for all real
property within the jurisdiction of the City of South Miami for the fiscal year 2009/2010 has been
made by the property appraiser for Dade County; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the above -cited statutory provision, the Mayor and City
Commission are required to adopt a tentative and thereafter a final millage rate for the taxing
jurisdiction of the City of South Miami.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. There shall be and hereby is levied upon real property in the City of South
Miami, Florida, a tax of 5.2790 mills on the dollar for the fiscal year 2009/2010 for the operation
expenses of the government of the City for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2009, and ending
September 30, 2010. This millage rate is 5.97% lower than the rollback rate of 5.6140 and results
in 0.00% change in the property tax rate.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage.

Three people died and
three others were injured
after a driver lost control
of -his SUV in Margate
early Saturday morning;
police said.
Killed in the crash were
a brother and sister: Crys-
tian Acosta, 221 and Eliza-
beth Acosta, 18, both of
Port St. Lucie, police said.
Adilene Medina, 19, of
North Lauderdale, also
died. Crystian Acosta was

a curb and rolled over, pos-
sibly twice, Suarez said,

three doses at a time,"
Loynaz said.

other three for treatment.

what happened, talking to
any witnesses and possibly
the survivors. Autopsies
will be done on the three
who died.
Investigators were try-
ing to learn the group's
whereabouts before the
crash, Suarez said.
