Request: Approval of the proposed millage rate of 5.2790 for Fiscal Year 2009- 2010; which is the same millage rate approved for Fiscal Year 2008 -2009. The. proposed rate is 5.97% lower than the rollback rate of 5.6140. WHEREAS, pursuant to section 200.065, Florida Statutes, tax assessments for all real property within the jurisdiction of the City of South Miami for the fiscal year 2009/2010 has been made by the property appraiser for Dade County; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to the above -cited statutory provision, the Mayor and City Commission are required to adopt a tentative and thereafter a final millage rate for the taxing jurisdiction of the City of South Miami. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. There shall be and hereby is levied upon real property in the City of South Miami, Florida, a tax of 5.2790 mills on the dollar for the fiscal year 2009/2010 for the operation expenses of the government of the City for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2009, and ending September 30, 2010. This millage rate is 5.97% lower than the rollback rate of 5.6140 and results in 0.00% change in the property tax rate. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage.
