ITEM No. A (d )
Subject: Special notice of scheduling celebration event unveiling the
Cambridge Lawns Historic Markers
The City's Historic Preservation Board and the Planning and Zoning Department have
announced a tentative date and time for an open celebration honoring the placement of
the three stone historic markers at the entrances to the Cambridge Lawns Historic
District. The project was funded by a grant from the Villagers, Inc. and was completed by
a City contractor in August, 2009.
The special event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM. It will be
held on the site of one of the markers located at the intersection of SW 63 Avenue and
Miller Road (SW 56 Street) just a few steps north of Brewer Park. A brief ceremony
unveiling the marker, recognizing the Villager's contribution and the contributions of
individual volunteers will take place. Refreshments will be served and a number of the
historic homes will be opened for tours.
The City Commission will be invited and it is requested that this event be set down on
your calendars.
