DOD:pel O'Donniley o . ;, f x To: Davis, Maria Subject: Sunset Chiropractic(Art Sign Company) On June 15, 2004, the ERPB heard an application for a"Landscape Sign" presented by Art Sign Company for Sunset Chiropatric(Dr. Tom Mauro). Sunset Chiropractic is located in the"RO" (Residential Office)zoning district and "Landscape Signs" are not permitted as routine by the zoning code in this district. However, given the close proximity to nearby"GR" (commercial), staff supported a sign under the provision of Section 20-4.3(L), which allows the ERPB to grant a sign under special circumstances. Staff limited its support to a sign that does not exceed the size of sign permitted by the LDC for a"Landscape Sign" in order to maintain a consistent approach to all Landscape Signs. The sign submitted by Art Sign Company was substantially larger than, what the LDC permits for a Landscape Sign. The ERPB members at the hearing also noted our regulations did not permit advertising, but limited signs to the business name and the location. It was suggested by removing each Doctors name, the sign could be reduced to a size permitted by the LDC. The Board moved to defer to allow the applicant to revise the sign. Dr. Mauro took great exception to this and stormed out of the room, slamming the entry door to the Chambers and nothing further has been submitted on the proposed sign. Staff continues to support a. Landscape Sign not exceeding four feet in height and twenty square feet of display area.
