RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING THE
ORIGIN OF THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
BROUGHT FORTH IN THE SYMBOLIC HISTORIC STANDARD OF
OUR COUNTRY, IT EXPRESSES THE FAITHFUL SACRIFICE AND
PURPOSE THAT EVOLVED IN OUR STATUS OF NATIONHOODD;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the flag of the United States of America has an expressive historic
beginning;
WHEREAS, out of this, a desire to create an original standard representative of
the revolutionary accomplishments;
WHEREAS, each successive version reveals development; and
WHEREAS, the flag of the United States of America today stands as the total
expression of the nation's extraordinary nature.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The flag will be honored by all citizens.
Section 2. A special occasion be designated for the celebration date, also the
134th anniversary of the United States Army, June 14, 2009.
Section 3. Create this occasion as an annual event when the flag will be
frequently and gloriously displayed everywhere in the City.
Section 4. All citizens are invited to show their individual support by dressing
in the national colors red, white and blue.
Section 5. All social groups, clubs and organizations are welcome to express
their support.
