Construe 1!vJll\U1.,11ViVJ L'V1.. ,'1lULliVV LIIG ,.V IVlli`IL ..,.* 1 20 ' x 10 ' STANDARD CARPORT FRAME PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH ASSEMBLY All pieces of tubing are cut to exact size , and only two types of fittings'.are used to assemble the ECONOMY CARPORT. When placiri� fittings , remember that the nuts must be facing down or to the inside so they will not chafe the fabric when the cover is on the frame. 1 . Place the six 10' pieces (3 pieces With inside connectors) on the ground to form three 20' stringers . Position 'a 4-way fitting (#2) at the center of the two 20 ' side stringers. Insert the 10 piece with the inside connector through the #2 fitting and into the plain 10 ' length. Secure with a, sheet metal screw, making certain the #2 fitting is between the two screws , ' and • facing the inside. 2 . On the two side stringers , place one single fitting (#1) 5 ' in from each end and one #2 fitting on each cr.u. - ft1;�;? � 3. Connect the 9' 8" crosspieces from one #2 fitting to the opposite #2 - fi-tting'6� . and bolt into place. TIGHTEN THE SET SCREWS ON THE #2 FITTINGS . +. Insert the single punched end of six of the 5 ' rafter pieces into the #2'`r' F�tt, fittings and secure with nuts and bolts . Attach a #1 fitting to the other end of the four end rafters. t 5. Insert the top stringer through the #1 fittings on the end rafters. Tighten the nuts and bolts . Clamp two #1 fittings around the stringer and attach to the other two rafters. Position the remaining four rafters S ' in from each .end and connect from the side stringers to the top stringer using #1 fittings. (Note illustration on the back. ) Che upper frame is now complete. To more permanently secure the fittings,luse 1 5/32 ' drill bit and .drill a-hole through the small hole of the #1 fitting and insert a sheet metal screw. The set screw on the #2 fitting can be replaced ' t in the same manner. ► IF USING FLANGES , OMIT STEP #6 . r. i . Place the upper frame where you intend it to be set up, and using the; leg holes in the #2 fittings as a guide, dig the holes for the legs . Set the legs (with ground pieces attached) in the holes in such a manner that the tapered section of the .ground piece is above ground level. Raise the upper frame (one person at each end is the best way) and insgrt the top of each leg into the #2 fitting. CHECK ALL FITTINGS TO MAKE SORE { THEY ARE SECURE. :MPORTANT: IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF RAIN OR HIGH WINDS, IT IS BEST TO WAIT 'OR CLEAR WEATHER BEFORE CONTINUING WITH #8 . - Plc.ce the cover over the frame . Tie down the center of the two wings (end' ) and each corner of the cover. (This is to assure that the cover will be ? even on all sides and at the ends while being laced. ) Lace the cover from+ the center of the wings to the corners , alternating at each end. Complete' by lacing the sides , again alternating 1/4 of each side. ' It is best* t ,-.1 ce with a half-hitch through the grommet. After leveling the frame, pour concrete around the ground-pieces and let dry overnight. IN THE EVENT OF A HURRICANE ALERT; IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMOVE THE COVER TO PREVENT POSSIBLE DAMAGES ^. ~H I + ~• J 1 ROPE LACING: TIE SLIP KNOT AROUND PIPE AT START POINT. PASS END OF ROPE OVER PIPE AND THROUGH GROMMET, LEAVE LOOP. GO THROUGH SAME PROCEDURE AND PASS THROUGH LOOP AND PULL TIGHT. ROPE WILL LOCK. MOVE TO NEXT GROMMET. THIS PROCEDURE CAN BE REVERSED.
