Re: Scheduling of City Commission Work Day
A., (a)
During a recent City Commission Meeting, Commissioner Palmer sought to establish
a "Commission Work Day" where the entire Commission might participate in
constructing, an affordable single - family home on blighted, vacant property recently
conveyed by the SMCRA to Habitat for Humanity.
Based on subsequent discussions with Habitat for Humanity it appears that anytime
after April 15, 2009 would be most appropriate (See Attached E- Mail). It should be
noted that the climate will become increasingly hotter over time and therefore the
closer the event to event April 15th the better.
The following possible dates have been tentatively selected:
• Saturday, April 17, 2009; and
• Saturday, April 24, 2009
Hopefully during an upcoming Commission Meeting, consensus can be reached
regarding the scheduling of a "Commission Work Day" on one of the above listed
dates. Regarding the actual event, comfortable clothing is highly suggested including
no sandals or high heals. Distribution of City of South t -shirts to participating
Commissioners should also be considered.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Stephen,
We love to have the Commissioners out for a work day on the new South Miami homes. The first
house is already under construction, so just contact Carlos who I've copied above, and he will get
you on the schedule!
Thanks. Hope to see you out there!

Subject: Request for Scheduling Assistance to Establish a City Commission /Habitat "Work Day"
Importance: High
Anne,
During the prior City Commission Meeting, Commissioner Palmer spearheaded an
initiative to establish a City Commission "work day" in conjunction with Habitat for
Humanity during construction on one of the vacant lots recently conveyed to Habitat for
Humanity by the SMCRA. In an effort to coordinate this initiative, can you please provide
us with an approximate timeframe to facilitate this initiative?
Thanks Anne
Stephen
