A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO.005-25-16297 TO CHANGE THE
STREET DESIGNATED IN HONOR OF AND AFTER GAEL
COACHMAN ALEXANDER TO S.W.64th STREET
BETWEEN S.W.63rd COURT AND S.W.63rd AVENUE;
PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION,TRANSMITTAL,
CORRECTIONS,SEVERABILITY,AND AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS,on January 21,2025,the City of South Miami (the “City”)Commission
adopted Resolution No.005-25-16297 approving the naming of 63rd Court from S.W.64lh Street
to S.W.66th Street (the “City Street”)in honor of and after Gail Coachman Alexander;and
WHEREAS,subsequently,it was discovered that the City Street has already been
designated with an honorary name,and,therefore,is not available for naming;and
WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to amend Resolution No.005-25-16297 to
designate 64th Street between S.W.63 Court to 63rd Avenue (the “Designated Street”)in honor of
and after Gail Coachman Alexander in lieu of the City Street;and
WHEREAS,the City Commission finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and
welfare of the citizens of the City.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA:
Section 1.Recitals Adopted.The above-stated recitals are true and correct and are
incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2,Amending Resolution No,005-25-16297.Resolution No.005-25-16297
is hereby amended to change the street designated in honor of and after Gail Coachman Alexander
from the City Street to the newly Designated Street.
Section 3 Implementation.The City Manager is hereby authorized to take any and
all action necessary to implement the purposes of this Resolution.The appropriate City
departments are hereby authorized to erect the necessary street signs,subject to any necessary
coordination with or approval from Miami-Dade County.
Section 4.Transmittal.This Resolution shall be transmitted to Miami-Dade County
for approval.
Section 5.Corrections.Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections
may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the
final resolution for signature.

Section 6.Severability.If any section,clause,sentence,or phrase of this Resolution
is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction,the holding
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Resolution.
Section 7.Effective Date.This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.

The accompanying resolution amends Resolution No. 005-25-16297 which approved the naming
of 63rd Court from S.W. 64th Street to S.W. 66th Street (the “City Street”) in honor of and after Gail
Coachman Alexander. Subsequently, it was discovered that the City Street has already been
designated with an honorary name, and, therefore, is not available for naming . The attached
Resolution amends Resolution No. 005-25-16297 to newly designate 64th Street between S.W.
63 Court to 63rd Avenue (the “Designated Street”) in honor of and after Gail Coachman Alexander
in lieu of the City Street.
