A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,
FLORIDA,RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO.024-24-16129
WHICH AUTHORIZED THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE CERTAIN MUTUAL AID AGREEMENTS,
MEMORANDUMS OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU),AND
OTHER PROCEDURAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
AGREEMENTS WITH GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES,
INCLUDING ANY AMENDMENTS OR RENEWALS
THERETO ON AN ON-GOING BASIS;PROVIDING FOR
CORRECTIONS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,it is the responsibility of the governments of the City of South Miami
(the “City”)and surrounding jurisdictions,to ensure the public safety of their citizens by providing
adequate levels of police services to address any foreseeable routine or emergency situations;and
WHEREAS,on March 5,2024,the City Commission adopted Resolution No.024-24-
16129,which authorized the City Manager to execute mutual aid agreements,memorandums of
understanding,and other law enforcement agreements with other governmental entities,including
any amendments or renewals thereto on an on-going basis,that are necessary for the safety of the
City and incur no direct financial impact on the City,subject to the approval of the City Attorney
as to form,content,and legal sufficiency;and
WHEREAS,the City Commission finds that such agreements should be subject to
Commission approval;and
WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to rescind the prior delegation of authority
provided in Resolution No.024-24-16129 and provide that all future mutual aid agreements,
memorandums of understanding,and other law enforcement agreements with other governmental
entities be presented to the City Commission for approval before execution;and
WHEREAS,the City Commission finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and
welfare of the City.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.Recitals.The above-stated recitals are true and correct and are incorporated
herein by this reference.
Section 2.Rescinding Resolution No.024-24-16129.The City Commission hereby
rescinds Resolution No.024-24-16129 in its entirety.All future mutual aid agreements,
memorandums of understanding,and other law enforcement agreements with other governmental
entities shall be presented to the City Commission for approval before execution.

Section 3.Corrections.Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections
may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the
final resolution for signature.
Section 4.Effective Date.This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
