A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
APPOINTMENT OF ANDREW VELO-ARIAS TO THE
PENSION BOARD OF TRUSTEES; PROVIDING FOR
CORRECTIONS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of South Miami (the "City") has established a pension plan for the
purpose of providing retirement allowances for employees of the City, which pension plan is
placed under the management of the Pension Board of Trustees (the "Board"); and
WHEREAS, Section 16-20(a) of the City Code of Ordinances (the "Code") provides that
two (2) Board members must be residents of the City and approved by a resolution of the City
Commission after a member of the Commission has nominated them; and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Lisa Bonich has nominated Andrew Velo-Arias for
appointment to the Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to approve the appointment of Andrew Velo-
Arias to the Board as a resident of the City for a tenn of two (2) years, expiring on August 20,
2026, or until a successor is appointed in accordance with Section 16-20 of the City Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and
welfare of the City.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Recitals. The above-stated recitals are true and correct and are
incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. Appointment. The City Commission hereby approves the appointment of
Andrew Velo-Arias, nominated by Vice Mayor Lisa Bonich, to the Pension Board of Trustees as
a resident of the City.
Section 3. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections
may be made by the City Attorney for any confonning amendments to be incorporated into the
final resolution for signature.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
