RESOLUTION NO. 111 -23 -16044 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND SELECTING LEADEX CORPORATION FOR THE INSTALLATION OF NEW SENSORY PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT MURRAY PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE EQUIPMENT; PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION, CORRECTIONS, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. No. 111-23-16044 WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and welfare of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Recitals. The above-stated recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. Approval and Selection of Contractor. The City Commission hereby approves and selects the Contractor's Proposal for the Services. Section 3. Authorization to Negotiate and Execute Agreement; Expenditure of Funds. The City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate and execute an agreement with the Contractor for the Services, consistent with the Proposal attached hereto as Exhibit "A," in an amount not to exceed $8,500, together with a $1,000 contingency for any unforeseen construction- related activity, subject to the approval as to form, content, and legal sufficiency by the City Attorney. The total expenditure shall be charged to the Parks Facility Impact Fund (PFIF) Account Number l l 7-2000-572-6440, which has a current fund balance of $244,000. Section 4. Implementation. That the City Manager is authorized to take any and all actions necessary to implement the Services and the purposes of this Resolution. Section 5. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the final resolution for signature. Section 6. RECOMMENDATION:Pursuant to the request of Commissioner Corey, the above- referenced item is submitted for consideration by the City Commission regarding the installation of new inclusive and sensory diverse play equipment at Murray Park. BACKGROUND:The proposed project entails the installation of new play equipment products: Xylofun Panel, We-Saw, and Chill Spinner. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to the installation of three (3) play elements at an existing playground area located at Murray Park, including excavating footers, installing concrete footers per installation manual/guidelines, repairing disturbed poured-in-place rubber surface area, cleaning area of any construction activities and dispose of debris off- site. In an effort to reduce costs, City staff will purchase all equipment directly from the manufacturer, Landscape Structures, by way of its authorized distributor, Rep Services, Inc. The aforementioned equipment will be installed by a third-party vendor, contingent upon approval by the City Commission.
