Res No 077-23-16010RESOLUTION NO . 077-23-16010 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PROCLAMATION AND DECLARING SUNDAY, JUNE 25 , 2023 AS "LOU ELLEN 'ELEASE' WASHINGTON" DAY". WHEREAS, Lou Ellen "Elease" Scott-Was hington was born on June 25, 199 3 as the 4 th e ldest child of 12 siblings in Lake C ity, South Carol ina; a nd WHEREAS, she man-ied James Wash ington on August 15 , 1958 (James Washington worked for the C ity of South Miami 's Parks & Recreation Department for 35 years) a nd t h ey had fo ur children, Yvonne, Elise, Katrina and Anthony (all South M ia mi High School gradu ates); a nd WHEREAS, James and Lou purchased their first and only home in the C ity of South M iam i in April 19 66; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Washington worked at Mount S inai Hospital for more than IO years and later worked at South M iam i Hospital and retired after twenty-five years as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commi ssion of the C ity of South Miami wish to issue a proclamation to celebrate Mrs . Washington's 90111 birthday a nd proclaim Sunday, June 25, 2023 as "Lou E llen 'Elease' Washington Day". NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Recitals Adopted. The foregoing recita ls a re hereby ratified and confim1ed as being true and correct and are h e reby made a s pecific p a rt of thi s resolution upon adoption h ereof. Section 2 . A pproval of Proclamation. The Mayor and City Commission for the C ity of So uth Miami here by approve the attach ed Proclamation to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mrs. Wash ington and proclaim, Sunday, June 25, 2023 as "Lou Ell en 'Elease' Washington Day". NOW, THEREFORE, I, Javier E.
