1.-Floor or Wall Assembly - Min 4-1/2 in. thick reinforced lightweight or
normal weight (100-150 pcf) concrete. Wall may also be constructed of
any UL Classified Concrete Blocks *. Max diam of opening is 12 in.

2. Through Penetrants - One metallicpipe, conduit or tubing to be installed
within the firestop system. Pipe, conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported
on both sides of floor or wall assembly. The annular space shall be 0 in.
(point contact) to max 1-1/4 in., The following types and s!zes of metallic
pipes, conduits or tubing may be ,used:
A. Steel Pipe - Nom 10 in. diam, (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier)
steel pipe.
B. Conduit - Nom 4 in. diam (or, smaller) steel electrical metalric tubing
or steel conduit.
C. Copper Tubing - Nom 4 in digm or smaller Type L (or heavier)
steel pipe
D. Copper Pipe - Nom 4 in. diam (or smaller) Regular (or heavier) copper
pipe.
3. Pocking Material -Min 3 in thickness of min 4 pcf mineral wool butt
insulation for nom 4 in. diam (and smaller) pipes conduits or tubings and
a min 4 in. thickness of min 4 pcf mineral wool bott insulation for pipe
greater than nom 4 in. diam, firmly packed into opening as a permanent
form .packing material to be recessed from top surface of floor or from
both surfaces of wall as required to accommodate the required thickness of fill material.
4. fill, void or cavity material -Sealant -Min 1/2 in . thickness of fill
material applied within the annulus ,flush with the top surface of floor or
both surfaces of wall. At the point of contact location between pipe and concrete,
a min 1/2 in diam bead of fill ',material shall be applied at the concrete /pipe interface
on the top surface of floor and on both surfaces of wall.

The scope of this project shall be adding to a NFPA 72 compliant Existing Central Station- Serv�ceh
Addressable Fire Alarm System 1 Power Booster 5 Notification Appliances and relocate 1 Smoke W
Detector. The premise is a one floor Existing Mercantile Occupancy as a part of a six floor ;
Mixed Occupancy Building. THE WHOLE BUILDING IS FULLY SPRINKLED, '

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION
In the situation of a fire emergency, alerting people inside the building will be accornplished
either by activating any of the existing pull stations or the existing smoke, heatiandbi duct
detectors will trigger automatically the Fire Alarm System.Visuol and audible signals will be • •'
generated to alert people about such emergency. �Q
The Fire Alarm Digital Dialer will route all signals to the rton.
All events will be shown in the FACP main display.
In order to reset the system is necesory to clear up the cause of the alarm �-
In case that the Fire Alarm System is not working properly, the specific problemill
indicated in the FACP main display accompanied by a audible warning signal which can be
acknowledged and silenced by pressing specific buttons at the FACP. ,yam
The system can not be reset without fixing the problem. Specific trouble signals will be sent - ,1
to Central Station.
GENERAL NOTES

2. THIS FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IS UL LISTED AS POWER LIMITED AND OF THE
GENERAL ALARM TYPE PER NFPA 72.
3. ALL WIRING AS APPLICABLE SHALL BE 18 AWG FPLP FOR INITIATING
DEVICES AND 14 AWG FPLP FOR NOTIFICATION DEVICES.
4. CONDUIT AS REQUIRED SHALL BE 1/2" EMT MINIMUM AND IT SHALL BE
SIZED AS PER NEC 2002 MAX. FILLED 40%. AS

9. COMMUNICATION TO CENTRAL STATION IS PERFORMED USING A DIGITAL ALARM
COMMUNICATOR/TRANSMITTER THAT TRANSMIT SYSTEM STATUS VIA PUBLIC
SWITCHED TELEPHONE NETWORK.
10. ALL SYSTEM COMPONENTS SHALL BE UL LISTED, COMPATIBLE AND
SUITABLE FOR FIRE SERVICE USE WITH FIRELITE 9600 FACP.
11-THE CEILING HEIGHT ALL AROUND THE PLACE IS LESS THAN 10'.
12. THE 120Vac POWER FEEDER FOR THE FAPS SHALL BE A DEDICATED BRANCH
CIRCUIT AND MUST BE IDENTIFIED IN THE ELECTRIC BREAKERS PANEL.
13. SMOKE DETECTOR TO BE INSTALLED AS PER NFPA 72. WALL MOUNTED
SMOKE DETECTOR SHALL BE INSTALLED 4" MINIMUM AND 12" MAXIMUM
FROM CEILING.
14. CEILING MOUNTED SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL NOT BE LOCATED IN A
DIRECT AIR FLOW NOR CLOSER THAN S 2" FROM AN AIR SUPPLY DIFFUSER
OR FLUORESCENT LIGHT.
15. ALL STROBE LIGHTS TO BE SELF- SYNCRONIZED TO AVOID EPILEPTIC
SEIZURES ON PHOTOSENSITIVE PERSONS. THE INTENSITY OF LIGH WILL BE
SET TO 75 CANDLES.
16. PROVIDE BATTERY CALCULATIONS AND VOLTAGE DROP CALCULATIONS AS
PART OF SUBMITTAL USING AVERAGE OPERATING CURRENT FOR SIGNAL AND
24 HOURS OF STANDBY AND 5 MINUTES IN ALARM FOR BATTERY CALCULATIONS.
17. THE FIRE ALARM EVACUATION SIGNAL SHALL SOUND IN A TEMPORAL PATTERN
AS PER NFPA 72 2002.
