A Resolution by the Mayor and City Commission suspending all preparation and
presentation of design and construction documents for the City of South Miami
Police Headquarters Facility at 5890 SW 69th Street, South Miami, FL until further
notice.
WHEREAS, on May 18, 2021, via Resolution No. 053-21-15673, the City Commission
authorized the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Leo A Daly for Phase 1-Conceptual
Design of the new Police Headquarters Facility with a cost of $89,854; and
WHEREAS, on January 18, 2022, via Resolution No. 013-22-15766, the City Commission
authorized the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Leo A Daly for Phase 2-Design
services for the design of the Police Headquarters facility for an amount not to exceed $507,079;
and
WHEREAS, Phase 3-Construction Documents and Permitting, has not yet been presented
to the Commission, but is anticipated to cost approximately $600,000; and

WHEREAS, the Commission would like to direct the City Manager to suspend preparation
and presentation of any further design and construction documents for the City of South Miami
Police Headquarters Facility at 5890 SW 69 th Street, South Miami, FL, until further notice.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and
correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution upon adoption hereof.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to suspend preparation and presentation of
design and construction documents for the City of South Miami Police Headquarters Facility at
5890 SW 69 th Street, South Miami, FL, until further notice.
Section 3. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections
may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the
final resolution for signature.
Section 4. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for
any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding will
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 5. Effective Date. This resolution will become effective immediately upon
adoption.
