Res No 135-22-15888RESOLUTION NO: 135-22-15888 A Resolution authorizing Commissioner Corey to represent the City of South Miami and to discuss the creation of a coalition between adjacent and neighboring municipalities relating to homelessness. WHEREAS, the City of South Miami has multiple homeless/housing insecure individuals who m the City keeps track of a nd attempts to aid when possible and necessary; and WHEREAS, the City o f Co ral Gables, Vi llage of Pinecrest, Town of Cutler Bay, and Village of Palmetto Bay are South Miami's neighboring municip al ities and have similar issues with home le ssness; and WHEREAS, funding from the Homeless Trust accounts for the number of homeless individuals reported o n t he census in a particular zone; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Corey desires to meet w ith the Mayor of the City Co r al Gables, Village of Pinecrest, Town o f Cutler Bay a nd Vi lla ge of Palmetto Bay to discuss homelessness in their respective muni cipalit ies and create a plan for a coalition that may develop into an opportun ity to receive funds from the Homeless Trust. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and co nfirmed as be in g t rue and correct and a re hereby made a specific part of this resolution upon adopti on hereof. Section 2. Commissioner Corey is hereby authorized to meet with other local municipalities, i ncluding the City of Coral Gab l es, Village of Pinecrest, Town of Cut le r Bay and Village of Palmetto Bay regarding the establishment of a coalition of adjacent and neighboring municipal ities to discuss homelessness. The ultimate purpose will be the creat i on of a plan to raise funds and to address homelessness among the co ll ective cit i es. Section 3. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener-type correction s may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into t he final resoluti on for signature. Section 4. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of th is resoluti on is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding w ill not affect the va lidity of th e rema ining portions of t hi s reso l ution.
