Background:There is a vacancy for the position of Planning and Zoning Director. Pursuant to Article III, Section 5 of the City of South Miami City Charter the City Manager has the power to appoint Directors of the City Departments with the consent and majority vote of the Mayor and the City Commission. Mr. Flores is currently the Assistant Planning and Development Services Director for Village of Islands, Islamorada. He has extensive experience dating back to 1992. Mr. Flores has a Master of Arts in Urban and Reginal Planning and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Recommendation:The City Manager recommends approval of appointment of Henry Flores as the Full-Time Planning and Zoning Director.
