ELEVATOR RECALL - SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS \
A. Heat Detectors on elevator lobbies and Smoke Detector in elevator mach ne room shall:
I . Initiate and alarm condition at the fire Alarm System.
2. Initiate the recall of the elevator cars as follows in accordance with NFPA 72
Chapter 2 1 .3. 1 2 (20 10 Edition)
B. PHASE I RECALL: Activation of any elevator hobby heat detector located on 2nd floor
or 3rd floor shall initiate phase I recall which bring the elevator car to the I st floor and
lock the doors in the open position.
C. PHASE II RECALL: Activation of the heat detector located on the I sit floor elevator
lobby and / or activation of the Smoke Detector located in the Elevator Room shall
initiate phase II recall which will bring the elevator car to the 2nd floor and lock the
doors in the open position.
D. ELEVATOR WARNING SIGNAL: Activation of the elevator machine room smoke
detector detector shall also initiate the elevator warning signal to alert emergency
personnel that the elevators are not safe for use,as required by NFPA 72
Chapter 21 ..3. 1 2.3 (20 1O Edition).
E. SHUNT -TRIP HEAT DETECTOR: N/A

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION:
SMOKE DEFECTOR
Activation of Smoke Detector shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of the
building by means of Horn devices. Generate a visual alarm signal
simultaneously on all areas of the building by the use of Strobe
devices or combination Horn/Strobe notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Smoke Detector by displaying the
alarmed device and its location on the Fire Alarm Control Panel.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated Central Station.
HEAT DETECTOR
Activation of Heat Detector shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of the
buildincg by means of Horn devices. Generate a visual alarm signal
simultaneously on all areas of the building by the use of Strobe
devices or combination Horn/Strobe notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Heat Detector by displaying the
alarmed device and its location on the Fire Alarm Control Panel.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated Central Station.
MANUAL PULL STATION
Activation of Pull Station shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of the
buildmg by means of Horn devices. Generate a visual alarm signal
simultaneously on all areas of the buildmg by the use of Strobe
devices or combination Horn/5trobe notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Pull Station by displaying the
alarmed device and its location on the Fire Alarm Control Panel.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated Central Station.
DUCT DETECTOR
Activation of Duct Detector shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible supervisory signal at the Fire Alarm Control
Panel.
- Indicate the location of the Duct Detector by displaying the
activated device and its location on the F.A.C.P.
- Shut Down the AHU.
- Transmits a Supervisory Signal to the designated Central Station.
WATERFLOW DEFECTOR
Activation of Waterflow shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of the
building by means of Horn devices. Generate a visual alarm signal
simultaneously on all areas of the building by the use of Strobe
devices or combination Horn/5trobe notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Waterflow by displaying the
alarmed device and its location on the Fire Alarm Control Panel.
- Activate the outdoor Flow Bell.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated Central Station.
TAMPER SWITCH
Activation of Tamper Switch shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible supervisory signal at the fire Alarm Control
Panel.
- Indicate the location of the Tamper Switch by displaymg the
activated device and its location on the F.A.C.P.
- Transmits a Supervisory Signal to the designated Central Station.
TROUBLE
Any abnormal condition in the System shall initiate the following
functions:
- Generate an audible Trouble Signal at the Fire Alarm Control
Panel.
- Indicate the cause of the trouble by displaying the abnormal
condition on the Fire Alarm Control Panel.
- Transmits a Trouble Signal to the designated Central Station.
FIRE ALARM COMMUNICATOR
- All signals shall be reported directly to the designated Central
Station via Telephone line.

1.Wall Assembly -- The 1 or 2 hr Hire -rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly shall be
constructed of the materials and in the manner specified in the individual U400 or V400
Series Wall and Partition Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall incorporate
the following construction features:
A. Steel Studs - "C-H" or 'C-T" shaped studs, min 2-1/2 in (64 mm) wide by 1-1/2 in
(38 mm) deep, fabricated from min No. 25 gauge (0.6 mm thick) galy steel,
spaced max 24 in (610 mm) OC.
B. Gypsum Board* - 1 in. (25 ram) thick, 24 in. (610 mm) wide gypsum liner panels installed
vertically. Max. diam of circular cutout in gypsum liner panel is 10 in.(254mm)
C. Gypsum Board* - 1/2 in. or 5/8 in. (13 or 16 mm) thick, 48 in. (1.2 m) wide gypsum
boards. The gypsum board type, thickness, number of layers, fastener type
and sheet orientation shall be as specified in the individual Wall and Partition
Design. Max diam of circular cutout in gypsum board is 10 in.(254mm).
The hourly F Rating of the ftrestop system is equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall assembly
in which is installed.
2.Through-Penetrants -- One metallic pipe, conduit or tubing to be installed either concentrically
or eccentrically within the fiirestop system. The annular space between pipe, conduit or tubing
and periphery of opening shall be minimum 0 in. (0 ram, point contact) to max 2 in. (51 ram).
Pipe, conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported on both sides of wall assembly. The following
types and sizes of metallic pipes, conduits or tubing may be used:
A Steel Pipe - Nom 8 in (203 mm) diam (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier) steel pipe
B. Iron Pipe - Nom 8 in. (203 mm) diam (or smaller) service weight (or heavier) cast iron
soil pipe, nom 8 in. (203 mm) diam (or smaller) or Class 50 (or heavier)
ductile iron pressure pipe.
C. Conduit - Nom 6 in diam (152 mm) diam (or smaller) steel conduit or nom 4 in.
(102 mm) diam (or smaller) steel electrical metallic tubing.
D. Copper Tubing - Nom 6 in. (152 mm)diam (or smaller) Type L (or heavier) copper tubing
E. Copper Pipe - Nom 6 in. (152 mm) diam (or smaller) Regular (or heavier) copper pipe
3. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* Caulk as sealant - Min 1 in. (25 mm) thickness of Hill material
applied within the gypsum board liner panel flush with the faces of the liner panel.
Min 5/8 in. (16 mm) thickness of fill material applied within the gypsum board annulus,
flush with the finished side of the wall. Min 1/2 in. (13 mm) diam beadof caulk applied to
penetrant/gypsum board interface at the point contact location on the finished side of the wall
