Res No 082-22-15835RESOLUTION NO. 082-22-15835 A Resolution relating to the year 2022 General Election of the Mayor and City Commissioners for Groups, I and IV; scheduling the day, place, and time of the election; providing for qualification of candidates; providing for close of election books; approving the sample ballot; providing for notification. WHEREAS, Article V, Section 2A, of the City of South Miami Charter provides that the City's general election will be held on the same day as the national general election, commencing in 2022, and thereafter in each even year, at which time the Mayor will be elected to a term of two years and two Commissioners will be elected to terms of four years; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 2D, of the City of South Miami Charter provides that no person may appear on the Ballot for Election as Mayor or City Commissioner if, by the end of his or her current term of office, the person will have served (or, but for resignation would have served) in office as the Mayor or as a City Commissioner for a total of nine years or more; and WHEREAS, state law requires election books to close twenty-nine (29) days prior to the election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution upon adoption hereof. Section 2. The 2022 General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. On that date, a Mayor will be elected to serve a term of two (2) years, and two (2) Commissioners, one from Group I and one from Group IV, will be elected to serve a term of four (4) years. Section 3. The qualifying period for this election will open Monday, August 15, 2022, and close Thursday, August 25, 2022 (excluding weekend), from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. sharp each day. Candidates must qualify at the office of the City Clerk, 6130 Sunset Drive, South Miami, Florida. Section 4. Voting will be conducted at precincts as assigned by Miami-Dade County Elections Department. The polls will open precisely at 7:00 a.m. and close precisely at 7:00 p.m. Section 5. resolution. The City Clerk w ill publish notice of such gen eral election once a week for four consecutive weeks next preceding the genera l election in a newspaper of gene ral circulation in South Miami. The notice wi ll conta in t h e date, time, and p l ace of the gene ral election and identify the Commission Groups. Section 8 . This General Election will be canvassed by the M iami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections, or his/her designee. Section 9. Corrections. Conforming language or techn ical scrivener-type corrections may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the final resolution for signature. Section 10. Severability. If any section, cl ause, sentence, or phrase of th is resolution is for any reason held in va lid or uncon stituti onal by a court of competent j uri sd iction, t he holding wil l not affect the valid ity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. S Daily Harvest put a link to its website recall an­ nouncement in its Insta­ gram account bio, and a note to click on the link in a since­removed post about a different variety of crum­ bles. But that post included the jaunty “Spaghetti and Walnut + Thyme Crum­ bles? We think Nonna would approve,” and the juxtaposition struck some folks as inappropriate. Also, some criticized Daily Har­ vest for posting the link. “Why not include the most important message in the caption?” Instagram user adhd.nutritionist asked. CVS Health Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution Lemon Fla­ vor has been recalled from CVS and Navarro Pharma­ cy stores because of Glu­ conacetobacter liquefa­ ciens bacteria. “Immunocompromised patients who consume this product may be at in­ creased risk for invasive infections caused by Glu­ conacetobacter liquefa­ ciens that could lead to serious, life­threatening adverse health conse­ quences,” said the FDA­ posted recall notice from manufacturer Vi­Jon. The notice said said CVS requested the testing of a first production sam­ ple of the constipation remedy. This covers lot No. 0556808 with expiration date 12/2023 on the 10­ ounce bottles. They were sold at CVS stores nation­ wide and Navarro stores in Florida. If you have this laxative, return it to the store for a refund.
