A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to permit Team Footworks Educational and
Fitness Corporation to hold its annual 2022 Twilight SK Run/Walk event and to waive
certain special event fees.
WHEREAS, Team Footworks Educational and Fitness Corporation ("the applicant"), a not-
for-profit organization, has submitted a Special Event Application to hold its annual Twilight SK
Run/Walk event and on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 6 :00 PM to 9:00 PM ; and
WHEREAS, the race will begin at SW 58 th avenue and SW 74th street and end on SW 57 th
court between SW 73 rd and 74 th street; and
WHEREAS, the applicant will host a post-race celebrat ion at First Nationa l Bank of South
Miami's Parking Lot located at 5795 SW 73 rd Street. The celebration will consist of food,
beverages, and bounce houses; and
WHEREAS, the app l icant is requesting a fee waiver in the amount of $8,774.84 for the
following City services; and

WHEREAS, the appl i can t has submitted the necessary Notification/Petition form signed
by businesses along the street closure along with a copy of an event notice delivered to the
affected residential hom es; and
WHEREAS, upon approval of this event, the applicant and its vendors must provide the
City with the required Certificate of Liability Insurance that complies with the City 's standard

insurance requirements, including naming the City of South Miami as an additional insured prior
to the event.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and
they are incorporated into this resolution by reference as if set forth in full herein.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to permit Team Footworks Educational
and Fitness Corporation to hold its annual Twilight SK Run/Walk event on Sunday, June 5, 2022,
from 6:00 p.m . to 9:00 p.m. The race will begin at SW 58 t h avenue and SW 74th street and end on
SW 57th court between SW 73 rd and 74 th street. The City Manager is also authorized to permit a
post-race celebration at First National Bank of South Miami's Parking Lot, located at 5795 SW
73 rd Street.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to waive Street Closure, Public Works,
and Parking Meter fees in the amount of $8,294.84.
Section 4. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections may
be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the final
resolution for signature .
Section 5. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for
any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution .
Section 6. Effec t ive Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.

BACKGROUND:Team FootWorks Educational and Fitness Corporation (“the applicant”), a
not-for-profit organization, has submitted a Special Event Application to
hold its annual Twilight 5K Run/Walk event on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from
6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Twilight 5K Run/Walk allows participants of all skill levels to partake in
a fun, safe run/walk in the downtown South Miami area and surrounding
streets. The race will begin at SW 58th avenue and SW 74th street and end
on SW 57th court between SW 73rd and 74th street.
The applicant will host a post-race celebration at First National Bank of
South Miami’s Parking Lot located at 5795 SW 73rd Street. The celebration
will consist of food, beverages, and bounce houses; all sidewalks will
remain open to the public.
The applicant along with the Public Works Department will be responsible
for cleaning all public property (sidewalks, street gutters, etc.) post event.
Barricades and police vehicles will block traffic at all intersections.
The applicant has submitted the necessary Notification/Petition form
signed by businesses along the street closure along witha copy of anevent
notice delivered to the affected residential homes. Upon approval of this
event the applicant and its vendors must provide the City with the required
Certificate of Liability Insurance that complies with the City’s standard
insurance requirements, including naming the City of South Miami as an
additional insured prior to the event.

3. No Street shall be closed without approval from the City Commission.

County standards and any additional requirements by the City of South Miami Public Works Department

S. Event areas shall be restored to equal or better condition than they were before the event started.
6. Any damage to private property shall be restored to its original condition or better and as accepted by the
Owner caused by applicant or any of its agents, servants or employees, invitees and onlookers.
7. If all restoration work is not performed within 30 days of work completion, the City of South Miami Public
Works Department may restore the event area and charge the applicant for the cost of restoration and
additional Incidental fees.

The annual South Miami Hospital Twilight SK Run /
Walk will be held on June 5, 2022. This is a Sunday
evening run/walk that starts at SW 58 Ave and SW 74
St and finishes on SW 57 Ct (Hans Huseby Run)
between SW73and 74St. Please see the course map on the right.
The SK run/walk event begins at 6:00pm and will take about one hour to
complete. We are expecting approximately 1,200 participants. The lead
runners will run just over/under 5-minute miles -meaning that they will
get to mile one at 6:05pm, mile two at 6:10pm and the finish (3 .1 miles) at
6:16pm . Walkers will finish at about 6:40to 6:55pm.
Dotted line indicates race course and will be shut down from 6pm -7pm. If
you need to leave your home, please avoid these streets.
