A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of South Miami
proclaiming November 2021 as National Adoption Month in the City of South
Miami.
WHEREAS, the month of November is recognized as National Adoption Month to
celebrate all the children and families nurtured, enriched, and made whole by adoption by ensuring
that every child in America can grow up in a loving and supporting home; and
WHEREAS, every child deserves to grow up with a safe and loving family, with the care
and support of their community; and
WHEREAS, adoption creates supportive, loving families for children and the youth; and
WHEREAS, supportive families can help a child or teen overcome past traumatic
experiences and reach their full potential into adulthood; and
WHEREAS, we must come together as a community to celebrate the City'S adoptive
families and raise awareness about the number of children and youth who are still waiting for an
adoptive family; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Miami celebrates the life-changing act of adoption bringing
attention to families who are eager to adopt, and express our gratitude to the families who have
welcomed children into their lives and homes; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Miami is thankful to the dedicated professionals who work
tirelessly to support adoptive families through compassion and hard work and to the foster families
who love, care, and provide for our Nation's foster youth; and
WHEREAS, there are no restrictions on who can adopt based on race, ethnicity, religion,
sexual orientation, gender identity or martial statues; and
WHEREAS, there is always a need for parents who are willing to adopt children or youth
in need of a permanent home by promising a secured future with a forever family.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and
correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution upon adoption hereof.
Section 2. The Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of South Miami hereby
proclaim November 2021 as National Adoption Month in the City of South Miami as per the
attached proclamation.
Section 3. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections
