Res No 123-21-15743RESOLUTION NO. 123-21-15743 A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of South Miami, Florida, approving the Proclamation recognizing October 19, 2021, as "Commander Stewart `Mike' McVay Day". WHEREAS, the American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran's organization with the mission to enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness; and WHEREAS, Commander Stewart "Mike" McVay has served tirelessly and with distinction as Commander of American Legion Post 31 South Miami for 18 years; and WHEREAS, Commander McVay dedicated himself and personally contributed to providing the South Miami community with an American Legion Post where military veterans, their families and worthy community organizations could proudly and patriotically gather; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of South Miami wishes to issue a proclamation to recognize the contributions of Commander McVay to the South Miami community. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Mayor and City Commission for the City of South Miami hereby approve of the attached proclamation recognizing October 19, 2021, as Commander Stewart `Mike' McVay Day. Section 2. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener -type corrections may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the final resolution for signature. Section 3. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
