A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to expend an amount not to exceed $93,000 for Miami
Dade Curbside Recycling services to cover the recycling invoices for curbside recycling.
WHEREAS, the City is requesting to continue providing curbside recycling service to all City residents;
and
WHEREAS, the City has an opportunity to enter into a Interlocal Agreement with Miami Dade County
for curbside recycling services at the rate $2.70 (per household month) through September 30, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the City forecasts that the total expenditure to Miami Dade County for the procurement of
curbside recycling services for the fiscal year 2018/2019 will not exceed $93,000; and
WHEREAS, the expenditure shall be charged to the Public Works Solid Waste 001.1720.534.3470 which has
an account balance which has an account balance of $93,000 before this request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $93,000 for Miami Dade
County curbside recycling services and to cover the recycling invoicing for usage of Miami Dade County recycling
curbside services for the fiscal year 2018/2019 which shall be charged to account number 001.1720.534.3470
Solid Waste with a current balance of $93,000.
Section 2: Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held
invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance.
Section 3. Effective Date: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon the time of its adoption.

SUBJECT: A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to expand an amount not to
exceed $93,000 for Miami Dade Curbside Recycling services to cover the
recycling invoices for curbside recycling.
BACKGROUND: The City Charter requires that all contracts for goods and services in excess
of $5000 shall be approved by the City Commission.
The City forecast the expenditure up to $93,000 to Miami Dade County
Curbside Recycling for the procurement of curbside recycling for the fiscal
year 2018/2019.
AMOUNT: $93,000
ACCOUNT: Account No: 001-1720-534-3470 has a current balance of $93,000

NOTICE
REGARDING PROPOSED CHANGE IN RATE FOR CURBSIDE RECYCLING
FY 2018-2019
Please note that Section VI: Payments of the' Interlocal Agreement for Inclusion
in the Miami -Dade County Curbside Recycling Program allows for an adjustment
in the monthly fee paid by the Municipality to the County based on the increase
or decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), All Urban Consumers, South
Urban, All items, annual average during the previous Service year., not to exceed
three percent (3%).
To assist in the development of your municipality's budget, please note that the
CPI has been, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Federal
Department of Labor. This CPI is calculated at 2.71 percent (2.71 %). The Board
of County Commissioners will vote in September and, if approved, the proposed
increase will take effect on October 1, 2018. All invoices issued for service from
October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019 will reflect this rate.
$2.70 (per household per month) x (2.71 %) = $0.07
$2.70 + .07 = $2.77
