A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of South
Miami, Florida creating the rule for date and time of regular meetings.
WHEREAS, Article II, Section 5, subsection C. of the City Charter requires that "[t]he
Commission shall meet regularly at such times and places as may be prescribed by its rules but
not less frequently than twice each month; and
WHEREAS, traditionally the City has held its meetings on the first and third Tuesday of
every month commencing at 7:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, Section 2-2.1 of the City of South Miami Code of Ordinances also provides
that regular meetings may be otherwise postponed, cancelled or reset only by resolution adopted
at a regular or special meeting by a majority of the entire membership of the City Commission;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commissioners desire to formally establish the rule for
the date and time of regular meetings.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and they
are incorporated into this resolution by reference as if set forth in full herein.
Section 2. The City Commission hereby creates the following rules in accordance with
Article II, Section 5, subsection C. of the City Charter and Section 2-2.1 of the City's Code of
Ordinances:
City Commission Rules
Section 1: Regular Commission meetings: The City Commission will hold its regular
meetings, commencing at 7:00 p.m., on the first and third Tuesday of every month, unless that
day falls on a holiday or a federal, Florida, Miami -Dade County or City election day. In the
event of a conflict with an election day or holiday, the meeting will be scheduled by the City
Manager for the next available business day that is not a holiday or an election day. This rule
may be amended from time to time by resolution of the City Commission.
Section 3. Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener -type corrections
may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the
final resolution for signature.
Section 4. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for
any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall

not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 5. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
