A Resolution of Mayor and City Commission of the City of South Miami, Florida, 3
authorizing the City Manager to temporarily ease restrictions as they relate to the 4
outside display of merchandise in South Miami’s Downtown District, Until December 5
31, 2020. 6
WHEREAS, closures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in financial 7
stress for several businesses in South Miami’s Downtown District; and8
WHEREAS:several businesses have recently displayed outside to attract customers, 9
without a permit, advertising they are open for business; and10
WHEREAS,in an effort to lessen the financial burden on business during these 11
unprecedented times, the City Commission desires to temporarily ease restrictions as they relate 12
to the outside display of merchandise in South Miami’s Downtown District, Until December 31, 13
2020.14
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE 15
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:16

Section 1.The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and they 18
are incorporated into this resolution by reference as if set forth in full herein.19
Section 2.The City Manager is authorized to allow businesses in the Hometown District 20
Overlay Zone and the Downtown SoMi District, as part of the manager’s Covid19 executive order, 21
to ease restrictions as they relate to the outside display of merchandise in South Miami’s 22
Downtown District, Until December 31, 202023

Section 3.Corrections. Conforming language or technical scrivener-type corrections 25
may be made by the City Attorney for any conforming amendments to be incorporated into the 26
final resolution for signature. 27
Section 4. Severability.If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for 28
any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall 29
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.30

Section 5. Effective Date.This resolution shall become effective immediately upon 32
adoption.33
