A resolution of the City of South Miami Community Redevelopment
Agency (SMCRA) authorizing a Single-family Residential Housing
Rehabilitation Program grant funding disbursement in the amount of
$5,000.00 for various bathroom and kitchen repairs at 6083 SW 62nd
Terrace.
WHEREAS, the SMCRA Redevelopment Plan calls for the rehabilitation and preservation
of the existing housing stock in the SMCRA redevelopment area; and
WHEREAS, to facilitate these objectives, the SMCRA established the Single-family and
Multi -family Residential Housing Rehabilitation Programs; and
WHEREAS, efforts have been made to prioritize repairs that affect health and safety;
and
WHEREAS, staff recently received a Single-family Residential Housing Rehabilitation
Program application from Jaqualin Moultry, a resident of the SMCRA redevelopment area
living on a fixed -income, who has been determined by staff to be income -eligible for the
Single-family Residential Housing Rehabilitation Program; and
WHEREAS, the applicant requests assistance to replace damaged plumbing fixtures,
tiles, and countertops, as well as, perform other improvements to the bathroom and kitchen
at 6083 SW 62"d Terrace; and
WHEREAS, based on the estimates submitted, $5,000.00 would complete all the
necessary repairs based on the lowest cost and most responsive quotes; and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to facilitate goals and objectives of the SMCRA
Redevelopment Plan by facilitating housing rehabilitation and preservation initiatives in the
SMCRA redevelopment area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI COMMUNITY
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY THAT:
Section 1. The recitals above are incorporated in this resolution.
Section 2. The South Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (SMCRA) Board
authorizes the SMCRA to enter into a grant agreement, the form of which is on file with the
SMCRA, with the applicant in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00 for the replacement of
damaged plumbing fixtures, tiles, and countertops, as well as, perform other improvements to
the bathroom and kitchen at 6083 SW 62nd Terrace, South Miami, FL.; and charging the total

BACKGROUND: The Single -Family Rehabilitation Program offers grant funding to private
single-family homeowners within the South Miami Community
Redevelopment Area (SMCRA) to increase the quality of the existing
housing stock. The program prioritizes applications that address health,
safety and welfare issues or would assist applicants who are least able to
afford to carry out rehabilitation activities.
Jaqualin Moultry has requested assistance from our SMCRA single family
grant funding in the amount of $5,000 for the replacement of damaged
plumbing fixtures, tiles, and countertops, as well as, perform other
improvements to the bathroom and kitchen at 6083 SW 62nd Terrace,
South Miami, FL.

Ms. Moultry has been income -qualified for the program. She solicited
quotes for all her repairs and received at least three quotes on all the
work to be done.
The repairs to Ms. Ferguson's home are to remedy safety hazards.
Staff received and reviewed the application along with the bids to repair
the home. The lowest and most responsive bids received total $5,000.
Staff recommends a grant award for that amount.
