SUBJECT:A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to permit Das Renn Treffen to
hold its 6
th annual DRT Porsche Car Show on February 8
th and 9th, 2020
within downtown South Miami and for a waiver of special event fees.
BACKGROUND:Das Renn Treffen (“the applicant”), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, has
submitted a Special Event Application to hold its annual DRT Porsche Car
show on February 8
th and 9th, 2020. This event will commence with a VIP
Preview event on Saturday, February 8
th, 2020 on 57
th Court from 73rd Street
to 74th Street and the First National Bank drive thru parking lot. The VIP
Preview event will not be open to the public and will host approximately two
hundred (200) paid participants and sponsors for an exclusive showcase of
top of the line Porsche cars.
The annual DRT Porsche Car show is open to the public and will resume on
February 9th, 2020 on 72
nd Street (Sunset Drive) from South Dixie Highway to
57th Avenue (Red Road), 73
rd Street from 58th Court to 57th Avenue and
surrounding streets. This reoccurring event showcases approximately two
hundred fifty (250) Porsche cars from around the nation.
This event generates approximately twenty thousand (20,000) attendees
who help stimulate South Miami’s economy by purchasing from local
merchants and restaurants during the event. Due to the commercial impact
(i.e. restaurant sales, parking and garage fees)and the applicant’s
continuous support of the City of South Miami STEM Program, the applicant
is requesting a full waiver of fees for services rendered by the City.
The applicant has submitted the necessary Notification/Petition form signed
by businesses that will be affected by the requested street closure. Upon
approval of this event, the applicant must provide the City with the required
Certificate of Liability Insurance that complies with the City’s standard
insurance requirements, including naming the City of South Miami as an
additional insured prior to the event.
REVENUE:The applicant has paid the City $660, which includes $60 application fee,
$100 administrative fee and $500 refundable security deposit.2

WHEREAS, Das Renn Treffen (“the applicant”), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, has 7

WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting to host a VIP Preview event on Saturday, February 11
8th, 2019 along 57th Court from 73rd Street to 74th Street and the First National Bank drive thru 12

WHEREAS, the annual DRT Porsche Car show will resume on February 9th, 2020 on 72

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE 35
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT:36

Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to permit Das Renn Treffen to hold its 38
6th annual DRT Porsche Car Show on February 8th and 9th, 2020 in downtown South Miami.39

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to waive the cost for Police ($9,775), 41
Public Work ($3,425), Street Closure and MOT fees ($2,503.75) and 250 Parking meters ($6,250), 42
totally $21,953.75.43

Section 3. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any reason 1
held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect 2
the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.3

Section 4. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption by vote of 5
the City Commission.6
