A Resolution deferring the second reading of the Fellowship Church
proposed amendments to the Future Land Use Map of the City of South
Miami's Comprehensive Plan and the zoning map concerning the Fellowship
Church property generally located northwest of the intersection of SW 72nd
Street and SW 67th Avenue.
WHEREAS, on April 17th, 2018, the Commission deferred the second reading of the
two ordinances for Fellowship Church until May 15''; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager, at the May 15, 2018 Commission meeting, indicated that
the City should defer the second reading until the June 19, 2018 City Commission meeting as the
Church had not completed the requested revisions to their plans; and
WHEREAS, at the June 19, 2018 Commission meeting, on information from the
applicant, the City Manager requested that these items be deferred for second reading until the
August 7, 2018 City Commission meeting; and
WHEREAS, the applicant modified its application and went before the Planning Board
to review the modified application on July 16, 2018; and
WHEREAS, at the August 7, 2018 Commission meeting, on information from the
applicant, the City Manager requested that these items be deferred for second reading until the
September 18, 2018 City Commission meeting; and
WHEREAS, based on information that the applicant was planning to amend the requests,
City staff requested on September 18, 2018 that the items be deferred for second reading until
the October 16, 2018 City Commission meeting; and
WHEREAS, the applicant submitted amended applications which, pursuant to the City
Charter, Article II, Section 8.C.2, were reviewed by the Planning Board on November 5, 2018;
and
WHEREAS, at the November 28, 2018 Commission meeting, on information from the
applicant, the City Manager requested that these items be deferred for second reading until the
February 19, 2019 City Commission meeting; and
WHEREAS, on January 15, 2019, the Commission deferred the February 19, 2019
meeting until February 26, 2019; and
WHEREAS, at the February 26, 2018 Commission meeting, on information from the
applicant, the City Commission deferred the items for second reading for nine months; and
WHEREAS, at the November 19, 2019 Commission meeting, on information from the
applicant, the City Commission deferred the items for second reading until January 21, 2020; and

WHEREAS, the applicant has informed staff that they will be prepared to present the
items for public hearing on February 4, 2020; and
WHEREAS, based on this information from the applicant, the City Manager requests
that these items be deferred for second reading until the February 4, 2020 City Commission
meeting; and
WHEREAS, Section 20-5.5 (E) (4) authorizes the City Commission to defer an item and
it provides that "[a] request for deferral made by the city manager, planning director, planning
board, or city commission and shall not be subject to the requirements set forth above in
subsections 20-5.6(E)(1)(2)(3).
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The application of the Fellowship Church and the 2"d reading of the following
ordinances are hereby deferred to February 4, 2020:
An Ordinance Adopting a Small -Scale Amendment to the Future Land Use Map of the
City of South Miami's Comprehensive Plan, amending the designation of an
approximately 2.60-acre property generally located northwest of the intersection of SW
72nd Street and SW 67th Avenue, and as legally described herein, from Religious to
Multiple Family Residential (Four Story); and
An Ordinance amending the Official Zoning Map, amending the designation of an
approximately 2.60-acre property generally located northwest of the intersection of SW
72nd Street and SW 67th Avenue, as legally described herein, from "R" Religious to
"RM-18" Low Density Multi -Family Residential.
Section 2. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for
any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
