Res No 056-19-15328RESOLUTION NO.: 5 6 -19 -1 5 3 2 8 A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to permit Team FootWorks Educational and Fitness Corporation, to hold its 31St annual Twilight 5K Run/Walk event and to waive the cost of parking meters. WHEREAS, Team FootWorks Educational and Fitness Corporation ("the applicant"), a not -for -profit organization, has submitted a Special Event Application to hold its 315t annual Twilight 5K Run/Walk event on Sunday, June 2"d, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and WHEREAS, the Twilight 5K Run/Walk will begin at 74th street and 581h avenue and end in the First National Bank of South Miami's Parking Lot located at 57th court and 73rd street; and WHEREAS, the applicant will be hosting a post -race block party in the First National Bank of South Miami's Parking lot that will consist of food sampling, bounce houses, face painting, interactive children's art tent, and music; and WHEREAS, the applicant has paid the City $660, which includes a $500 refundable security deposit, $100 administrative fee and $60 application fee; and WHEREAS, the applicant is responsible for paying the City for Police Services ($3,300) Public Works ($670), Street Closure and MOT ($2,470.48) totaling $6,440.48; and WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting a waiver for fifty eight (58) parking meters in the amount of $1,450; and WHEREAS, the applicant has submitted the necessary Location Approval sheet signed by the property owner of First National Bank of South Miami that will be affected by the event; and WHEREAS, the applicant has completed the Special Event Application and has submitted the necessary Notification/Petition Form signed by businesses that will be affected by the requested street closure; and WHEREAS, upon approval of this event the applicant must provide the City with the required Certificate of Liability Insurance that complies with the City's standard insurance requirements, including naming the City of South Miami as an additional insured prior to the event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to permit Team Footworks Educational and Fitness Corporation to hold its 3151 annual Twilight 5K Run/Walk event on Sunday.. BACKGROUND: Team FootWorks Educational and Fitness Corporation ("the applicant"), a not -for -profit organization, has submitted a Special Event Application to hold its 31st annual Twilight 5K Run/Walk event on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Twilight 5K Run/Walk allows participants of all skill levels to partake in a fun, safe run/walk in the downtown South Miami area and surrounding streets. The race will begin at 74th street and 58th avenue and end at First National Bank of South Miami's Parking Lot located on 57th court and 73rd street. The applicant will be hosting a post -race block party in the parking lot. There will be food sampling, bounce houses, face painting, interactive children's art tent, and music. All sidewalks will remain open to the public and public property (sidewalks, street gutters, etc.) shall be cleaned by the applicant and Public Works employees. Barricades and police vehicles will block traffic at designated intersections. The applicant has submitted the necessary Location Approval sheet signed by the property owner of First National Bank of South Miami that will be affected by the event. Additionally, the applicant has submitted the necessary Notification/Petition Form signed by businesses that will be affected by the requested street closure. If all restoration work is not performed within 30 days of work completion, the City of South Miami Public Works Department may restore the event area and charge the applicant for the cost of restoration and additional incidental fees. 8. Applicant must pay all fees prior to the date of their event(s). 9. Applicants shall notify the City of South Miami Special Event Coordinator at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to start of their event of any cancellations to be considered for any refunds.
