Res No 174-18-15207RESOLUTION NO.: 174-18-15207 A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to permit Hope 4 L.Y.F.E foundation to host its second annual Hope 4 L.Y.F.E 3K Breast Cancer Walk and to waive all special event fees and insurance requirements. WHEREAS, the Hope 4 L.Y.F.E foundation (lithe applicant") has requested to host its second annual Hope 4 L.Y.F.E 3K Breast Cancer Walk from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018. This event will begin and end at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center 5800 SW 66 th Street South Miami, FL 33143; and WHEREAS, the walk will take place along the sidewalk through the CRA neighborhood, starting at 68th Street and east of 58th Place and will begin heading west, making a right turn on 58th Place, down to 66th Street, turning right to 57th Avenue and ending on 68 th Street; and WHEREAS, after the walk, participants will return to the Gibson-Bethel Community Center for music, educational exhibits and live entertainment including local speakers, cancer survivors, doctors and more; and WHEREAS, funds raised will be donated to Florida International University ("F.I.U") and will be used towards the screening of breast cancer in men and women in the City of South Miami only, and who may need further testing beyond F.I.U's Mammogram Van Services; and WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting a waiver for all Special Event fees in the amount of $4,833.27, as illustrated in the table below; and DEPARTMENT AMOUNT SPECIAL EVENT FEES ($60 ApPLICATION, $100 ADMINISTRATIVE & $660 $500 REFUNDABLE SECURITY DEPOSIT) POLICE DEPARTMENT FEES $1,030 PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT FEES $1,232.02 SIDEWALK CLOSURE & MOT FEES $966.25 PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FEES $945 TOTAL $4,833.27 WHEREAS, the applicant has completed the Special Event Application and has submitted the necessary Notification/Petition Form signed by homeowners and businesses that will be affected by the requested sidewalk closure. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to permit the applicant to hold its second annual South Miami Hope 4 L.Y.F.E 3K Breast Cancer Walk and to waive insurance requirements. Section 2.
