DIVISION 1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

SECTION 01015 -OWNER FURNISHED ITEMS & EQUIPMENT
1. ITEMS SHOWN OR NOTED 'BY OWNER" ON THE DRAWINGS AND /OR IN THE SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE
FURNISHED BY OWNER AND INSTALLED BY GENERAL CONTRACTOR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RECEIVE
UNLOAD AS REQUIRED, STORE AND BE RESPONSIBLE THE EXTENT OF CARRYING NECESSARY INSURANCE TO
COVER ITEMS IN CASE OF THEFT, FIRE, LOSS, MALICIOUS DAMAGE.
INCLUDED IN THIS CATEGORY ARE:
2. KITCHEN EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING WALK -IN COOLER/FREEZER Wi1H ATTENDANT REFRIGERATION
EQUIPMENT. THIS EQUIPMENT SHALL BE FURNISHED, UNLOADED, ASSEMBLED AND SET IN PLACE UNDER
SEPARATE CONTRACT WITH ROUGH -INS AND FINAL CONNECTIONS BY CONTRACTOR.
3. STAINLESS STEEL FABRICATION INCLUDING COUNTERS, FURNISHED BY OWNER WITH FINAL CONNECTION BY
CONTRACTOR.
4. ALL LOOSE FURNISHIGS SUCH AS SOFA, CHAIRS, AND SIDE TABLES TO BE FURNISHED AND INSTALLED BY OWNER.
A. SECURITY SYSTEM.
B. SOUND SYSTEM.
C. WOOD FLOORING (IF NOTED).
D. SAFE.
E. EXTERIOR SIGNAGE AND ACCENT LIGHTING (OWNER INSTALLED WIRE BY CONTRACTOR).
5. OWNER WILL PROVIDE THE CONTRACTOR WiTH A USTiNG OF SUPPLIERS, ADDRESSES, AND CONTACTS FOR
OWNER- FURNISHED /CONTRACTOR - INSTALLED EQUIPMENT.
6. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL ROUGH -IN SERVICES AND MAKE ALL FINAL CONNECTIONS.
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO REQUEST SHOP - DRAWINGS, CATALOG CUTS, SCHEDULES, ETC.,
FROM THE OWNER, AS NECESSARY TO PROPERLY COORDINATE UTILITY CONNECTIONS, PREPARATIONS,
AND EQUIPMENT SUPPORTS TO ACCOMODATE ACTUAL FURNISHED ITEMS AND EQUIPMENT.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL DESIGNATE A COMPETENT INDIVIDUAL ON THE JOB SITE STAFF AS HIS "AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE" FOR OWNER - FURNISHED EQUIPMENT. THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
FURNISHING INFORMATION ON DESIRED DELIVERY SHEDULES, PROPER RECEIPT AND REPORTING OF ALL
SHIPMENT RECEIVED AS DESCRIBED HEREINAFTER AND SHALL BE REPONSIBLE FOR PROPER STORAGE AND
HANDLING OF THE EQUIPMENT AT ALL TIMES.
SECTION 01017 - CUTTING AND PATCHING
1. EXECUTING, CUTTING (INCLUDING EXCAVATING), FITTING OR PATCHING OF WORK, REQUIRED TO:
A. MAKE SEVERAL PARTS FiT PROPERLY.
B. UNCOVER WORK TO PROVIDE FOR INSTALLATION OF ILL-TIMED WORK.
C. REMOVE AND REPLACE DEFECTIVE WORK.
D. REMOVE AND REPLACE WORK NOT CONFORMING TO REQUIREMENTS OF CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS.
E. REMOVE SAMPLES OF INSTALLED WORK AS SPECIFIED FOR TESTING.
2. EXECUTE CUTTING AND PATCHING BY METHODS WHICH WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO OTHER WORK AND
WILL PROVIDE PROPER SURFACES TO RECEIVE INSTALLATION OF REPAIRS AND NEW WORK.
3. EMPLOY ORIGINAL INSTALLER TO PERFORM CUTTING AND PATCHING FOR EXPOSED FINISHED SURFACES.
4. REFINISH ENTIRE SURFACE AS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE AN EVEN FINISH.
A. CONTINUOUS SURFACES: TO NEAREST INTERSECTION.
B. ASSEMBLY' REFINISHING.
SECTION 0 1 200-PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING
1. OWNER WILL ADMINISTER PRE - CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE FOR EXECUTION OF OWNER - CONTRACTOR
AGREEMENT AND EXCHANGE OF PRELIMINARY SUBMITTALS.
2. OWNER WILL ADMINISTER MOBILIZATION AT PROJECT SITE FOR CLARIFICATION OF CONTRACTOR
RESPONSIBILITIES IN USE OF SiTE AND FOR REVIEW OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES.
3. ATTENDANCE: JOB SUPERINTENDENT, REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CONTRACTORS HOME OFFICE, MAJOR
SUBCONTRACTORS, AND SUPPLIERS, AND OWNER REPRESENTATIVE. OTHERS AS APPROPRIATE TO AGENDA
TOPICS.
4. SUGGESTED AGENDA: REVIEW PROGRESS SCHEDULE AND ADJUSTMENT THERETO, DELIVERY SCHEDULES,
SUBMITTAL, MAINTENANCE OF QUALITY STANDARDS, PENDING CHARGES AND SUBSMAON, AND OTHER
ITEMS AFFECTING PROGRESS OF WORK.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL SCHEDULE, ORGANIZE AND SHARE ANY SUBSEQUENT PROJECT MEETING DURING
NORMAL WORKING HOURS.
SECTION 01300 - SUBMITTALS
1. DELIVER SUBMITTALS TO LOCUS ARCHITECTURE, INC. UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED.
2. IDENTIFY SUBMITTALS WITH CONTRACTOR'S NAME, PROJECT NAME/LOCATiON AND DATE OF
SUBMITTAL.
3. MAKE ANY CORRECTIONS TO THE SUBMITTALS REQUIRED BY ARCHITECT AND RESUBMIT UNTiL
APPROVED.
4. CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE:
A. WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS AFTER EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT OR THE DATE OF WRITTEN
NOTICE TO COMMENCE THE WORK, WHICHEVER IS EARLIER, SUBMIT THREE (3) COPIES OF A
DETAILED CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE FOR APPROVAL.
B. SCHEDULE SHALL GRAPHICALLY SHOW THE RELATIONSHIP AND INTERDEPENDANCE OF ALL
ACTIVITIES NECESSARY TO FULLY COMPLETE THE WORK AND SHALL SHOW THE SEQUENCE IN
WHICH EACH ACTIVITY IS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED. THE DETAIL OF INFORMATION SHALL BE
SUCH THAT DURATION 71MES OF ACTIVITIES SHALL NORMALLY RANGE FROM ONE (1) TO
FIFTEEN (15) DAYS.
C. SCHEDULE SHALL GIVE DESCRIPTION OF EACH ACTIVITY, SHOW ITS DURATION IN CALENDER
DAYS AND REFERENCE iTS START AND FINISH DATES TO CALENDAR DATES.
5. SHOP - DRAWINGS AND SAMPLES:
A. SUBMIT ALL DRAWINGS, DIAGRAMS, ILLUSTRATIONS, SCHEDULES, PERFORMANCE CHARTS,
INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICATIONS AND OTHER PRODUCT DATA ILLUSTRATING PORTION OF THE
WORK AS REQUIRED BY THE SPECIFICATION SECTIONS. SUCH SUBMITTALS, WHETHER OR NOT
REFERRED TO AS SHOP DRAWINGS, SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF SHOP
DRAWINGS HEREINAFTER PRESCRIBED. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS
SECTIONS, SUBMIT A MIN. OF THREE (3) SETS OF SHOP DRAWINGS TO ARCHITECT. NO DRAW
WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL ALL SHOP - DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED.
B. UNLESS THE PRECISE COLOR AND PATTERN IS SPECIFICALLY SPECIFIED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS
SECTION, AND WHENEVER A CHOICE OF COLOR OR PATTERN IS AVAILABLE IN A SPECIFIED
PRODUCT, SUBMIT ACCURATE COLOR AND PATTERN CHARTS AND SAMPLES FOR REVIEW AND
SELECTIONS.
C. REVIEW, STAMP WITH CONTRACTOR APPROVAL, SIGNATURE, AND SUBMIT WITHIN THIRTY (30)
DAYS AFTER EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT OR THE DATE OF WRITTEN NOTICE TO
COMMENCE THE WORK, WHICHEVER IS EARLIER, ALL SHOP DRAWINGS AND SAMPLES. SHOP
DRAWINGS OR SAMPLES SUBMITTED WITHOUT CONRACTOR'S APPROVAL STAMP WILL BE
RETURNED WITHOUT REVIEW. SUBMIT SHOP - DRAWINGS AND SAMPLES IN AN ORDERLY
SEQUENCE SO AS TO CAUSE NO DELAY IN THE WORK OR IN THE WORK OF OTHER
CONTRACTORS.
D. SHOP DRAWINGS AND SAMPLES WILL BE REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY ARCHITECTS TO
DETERMINE IN GENERAL IF THEY ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
SUCH APPROVAL SHALL NOT RELIEVE CONTRACTOR OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DEVIATIONS
FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS NOR FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN THE SHOP DRAWINGS OR SAMPLES.
6. SCHEDULE OF VALUES
A. SUBMIT A SCHEDULE OF VALUES FOR VARIOUS PORTIONS OF THE WORK WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS
AFTER EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT OR THE DATE OF WRITTEN NOTICE TO COMMENCE THE
WORK, WHICHEVER IS EARLIER. SHOW THE AMOUNTS OF THE CONTRACT SUM ALLOCATED TO
EACH PORTION OF WORK, ON AIA G702.
7. CERTIFICATES OF COMPLIANCE
A. SUBMIT IN DUPLICATE, CERTIFICATES OF COMPLIANCE FOR EACH PRODUCT SPECIFIED, PRIOR
TO INSTALLATION OF THE APPLICABLE PRODUCT.
B. CERTIFICATES OF COMPLIANCE SHALL INCLUDE CERTIFIED LABORATORY TEST REPORTS,
MANUFACTURERS CERTIFICATES OR OTHER EVIDENCE SUFFICIENT TO VERIFY COMPLIANCE
WITH THE PRODUCTS SPECIFIED.
SECTION 01400- QUAUTY CONTROL
1. PERFORM WORK IN THE MOST WORKMANLIKE MANNER AND ACCORDING TO BEST STANDARD
PRACTICES. ALL WORK SHALL BE FREE FROM FAULTS AND DEFECTS IN WORMANSHIP.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR QUALITY CONTROL OF THE WORK AND SHALL
MAINTAIN QUALITY CONTRAL OVER SUPPLIERS, MANUFACTURERS, PRODUCTS, SERVICES, SITE
CONDITIONS AND WORKMANSHIP, TO PRODUCE WORK OF SPECIFIED QUALITY.
3. TESTING AND INSPECTION, WHERE REQUIRED BY THE SPECIFICATIONS SECTIONS, SHALL COMPLY WiTH
THE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE APPLICABLE SPECIFICATION SECTION AND THE GENERAL
REQUIREMENTS CONTAINED HEREIN.
4. ALL TESTING AND INSPECTION WHETHER REQUIRED BY THE SPECIFICATION SECTION OR BY LAWS,
ORDINANCES, RULES, REGULATIONS, CODES OR ORDERS OF ANY PUBLIC AUTHORITY HAVING
JURISDICTION OR WHETHER PERFORMED BY CONTRACTOR FOR QUALITY CONTROL SHALL BE AT
CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
5. WHERE THE SPECIFICATIONS SECTIONS REQUIRE TESTING OR INSPECTION BYATESTING LABORATORY,
ENGAGE A REPUTABLE, INDEPENDENT TESTING LABORATORY SPECIALIZING IN THE REQUIRED SERVICES
UNLESS THE TESTING OR INSPECTION IS INDICATED AS FURNISHED BY OWNER. TESTING LABORATORY
SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE OWNER.
6. SECURE REQUIRED CERTIFICATES OF TESTING, INSPECTION OR APPROVAL AND PROMPTLY DELIVER TO
OWNER.
7. PROMPTLY REPLACE OR CORRECT ALL WORK FOUND NOT TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WiTH THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF ANY PUBLIC AUTHORITY
HAVING JURISDICTION SO AS NOT TO DELAY THE WORK OR THE WORK OF OTHER CONTRACTORS
REGARDLESS OF HOW SUCH FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY BE REVEALED. REPLACEMENT AND
CORRECTION SHALL BE EXPEDITED AS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN INTERIM CONTRACT COMPLETION
DATES AND THE FULL COMPLETION DATE.
SECTION 01500 - CONSTRUCTION FACILITIES AND TEMPORARY CONTROLS
I. ALL TEMPORARY FACILITIES AND SERVICES SHALL BE FURNISHED IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WiTH
EXISTING GOVERNING REGULATIONS.
2. SANITARY FACILITIES: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE PROVIDED TEMPORARY SANITARY FACILITIES FOR THE
WORKMEN.
3. WATER FACILITIES: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND PAY FOR TEMPORARY WATER FOR THE
PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTION AS REQUIRED.
4. POWER AND LIGHT:
A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ARRANGE FOR TEMPORARY POWER FOR TOOLS AND LIGHTS AS
REQUIRED, TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
B. COST OF THE ELECTRICAL POWER CONSUMED FOR THE TEMPORARY SERVICE FOR TOOLS
AND LIGHTS, SHALL BE BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR. COST OF DISTRIBUTING POWER TO THE
CONSTRUCTION SITE SHALL BE BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR.
C. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE TEMPORARY POWER ONLY WHEN PERMANENT SERVICE IS
ARRANGED AND APPROVED.
5. REMOVE ALL TEMPORARY FACILITIES UPON COMPLETION OF THE WORK OR WHEN NO LONGER
REQUIRED.
6. PROVIDE PLUMBING, TEMPORARY DRAINAGE, WATER DIVERSION, WEATHER PROTECTION AND
CONTROLS AS REQUIRED TO ENSURE NO DELAY IN THE WORK OR THE WORK OF OTHER
CONTRACTORS.
SECTION 0 1 600-MATERUU AND EQUIPMENT
1. WHERE ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS ARE LISTED IN THE SPECIFICATION SECTIONS, OBTAIN
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT IN COMPLIANCE WiTH THE REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIED FROM ONE OF THE
MANUFACTURERS LISTED.
2. COMPONENTS REQUIRED TO BE SUPPLIED IN QUANTITY WITHIN A SPECIFICATION SECTION SHALL BE THE
SAME, SUPPLIED BY SAME MANUFACTURER AND SHALL BE INTERCHANGEABLE.
3. ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT SHALL BE NEW, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, AND OF FIRST CLASS
QUALITY, FREE FROM ANY FAULTS OR DEFECTS INCLUDING BLEMISHES, DENTS, IMPERFECTIONS, RUST,
AND STAINS. DO NOT INCORPORATE FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE MATERIALS OR EQUIPMENT IMO TO
WORK.
4. HANDLE AND STORE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURERS' AND
SUPPLIERS' RECOMMENDATIONS AND STORE PACKAGED MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT IN ORIGINAL,
UNDAMAGED CONDITION WITH MANUFACTURER'S LABEL AND SEALS INTACT.
5. NO SUBSTITUTIONS FOR THE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT SPECIFIED SHALL BE MADE UNLESS WRITTEN
APPROVAL HAS BEEN GIVEN AS REQUIRED IN THE GENERAL CONDITIONS BY OWNER. SUBSi1TUTiONS
WILL BE CONSIDERED ONLY IF OWNER RECEIVES THE ADVANTAGE OF LESSER COST WiTH DECREASE
INCREASE IN QUALITY, OR EARLIER COMPETITION DATE OR BOTH.
SECTION 01700- CONTRACT CLOSEOUT
1. DURING THE PROGRESS OF THE WORK MAINTAIN A SET OF DRAWINGS AT THE PROJECT SITE FOR
PREPARING RECORD DRAWINGS. NEATLY RECORD ALL CHANGES IN THE WORK AND RECORD
SPECIFIC LOCATIONS OF WORK SHOWN SCHEMATICALLY ON THE DRAWINGS. IN ADDITION, RECORD
THE FOLLOWING ON MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS:
A. LOCATION OF CONCEALED WATER AND ELECTRICAL SERVICES, WATER PIPING, SEWERS,
WASTES, VENTS, DUCTS, CONDUIT, AND OTHER PIPING BY INDICATION OF MEASURED
DIMENSIONS TO SUCH LINE FROM READILY IDENTIFIABLE WALLS OR CORNERS OF BUILDINGS
B. INVERT ELEVATIONS OF SEWERS AND TOP OF WATER LINES.
2. SUBMIT THE RECORD DRAWINGS TO ARCHITECT FOR APPROVAL WiTH THE PUNCH LIST AND WRITTEN
NOTICE THAT THE WORK IS READY FOR VERIFICATION OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION REQUIRED IN THE
GENERAL CONDITIONS. IF ARCHITECT DETERMINES THAT THE DRAWINGS ARE INCOMPLETE OR
INCORRECT IN ANY WAY, HE WILL ADVICE CONTRACTOR OF THE REQUIRED CORRECTIONS AND
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROMPTLY SUBMIT CORRECTED DRAWINGS. RECORD DOCUMENTS SHALL BE
DELIVERED TO OWNER PRIOR TO FINAL PAYMENT FOR THE WORK.
3. PREPARE THREE (3) COMPLETE SETS OF MANUALS CONTAINING THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS
FOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF EACH ITEM OF EQUIPMENT, APPARATUS AND OPERATIONAL
SYSTEM FURNISHED UNDER THE CONTRACT AND ANY ADDITIONAL DATA SPECIFICALLY REQUIRED IN
THE SPECIFICATION SECTIONS.
A. MANUALS SHALL BE BOUND WiTH COVERS OF DURABLE MATERIAL, ARRANGED IN THE
SEQUENCE OF THE SPECIFICATION SECTIONS AND SHALL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1) NEATLY TYPEWRITTEN INDEX.
2) COMPLETE INSTRUCTION REGARDING OPERATION, SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
INCLUDING LUBRICATION, DISASSEMBLY, AND REASSEMBLY.
3) COMPLETE NOMENCLATURE OF ALL PARTS AND PART NUMBERS OF ALL REPLACEABLE
PARTS.
4) COMPLETE LIST OF SOURCES TO BE CONTACTED FOR SERVICE AND REPLACEMENT PARTS
INCLUDING NAMES, ADDRESSES AND ALL OTHER PERTINENT DATA REGARDING
PROCUREMENT PROCEDURE.
5) COPY OF ALL REQUIRED GUARANTEE AND WARRANTIES.
6) MANUFACTURER'S BULLETINS, CUTS, AND DESCRIPTION DATA CLEARLY INDICATING THE
PRECISE ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS INSTALLATION AND DELETING, OR OTHERWISE CLEARLY
INDICATING ALL MANUFACTURERS' DATA WITH WHICH THIS INSTALLATION IS NOT
CONCERNED.
7) ANY OTHER DATA REQUIRED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS SECTIONS.
B. THE OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS SHALL BE DELIVERED TO THE OWNER PRIOR TO
FINAL PAYMENT OF FOR THE WORK.
C. IF REQUESTED BY OWNER, GIVE PHYSICAL DEMONSTRATIONS AND ORAL INSTRUCTION FOR
THE OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT, APPARATUS, AND OPERATIONAL SYSTEMS FURNISHED UNDER
THE CONTRACT. SUCH DEMONSTRATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS SHALL BE GIVEN TO OWNER
AND /OR OTHERS AS OWNER MAY CHOOSE.
4. IN ADDITION TO THE INFORMATION LISTED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INCLUDE IN THE PROJECT
MANUAL THE FOLLOWING:
A. GENERAL CONTRACTOR'S 1 -YEAR WRITTEN GURANTEE.
B. ALL FINAL LIEN WAIVERS.
C. COPY OF CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.
D. COPY OF SIGNED OFF PERMIT CARD.
E. LIST OF SUBCONTRACTOR WiTH NAMES OF CONTACT PERSON AND PHONE NUMBERS.
F. SOIL POISONING WARRANTY.
G. ALL TEST RESULTS (SOILS, CONCRETE, ETC.)
H. AS -BUILT DRAWINGS.
SECTION 0171 o- CLEANING
1. ALL CLEANING SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED
OTHERWISE.
2. MAINTAIN PREMISES AND PUBLIC PROPERTIES FREE FROM ACCUMULATIONS OF WASTE, DEBRIS AND
RUBBISH CAUSED BY OPERATIONS.
3. AT COMPLETION OF WORK, REMOVE WASTE MATERIALS, RUBBISH, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, MACHINERY
AND SURPLUS MATERIALS AND CLEAN ALL EIGHT EXPOSED SURFACES, LEAVE PROJECT CLEAN AND
READY FOR OCCUPANCY.
4. MAINTAIN PROJECT IN ACCORD WITH OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ACT OF 1970, AS
AMENDED IN TERMS OF CLEAN -UP.
5. CONDUIT CLEANING AND DISPOSAL OPERATIONS TO COMPLY WITH LOCAL ORDINANCES AND ANTI-
POLLUTiON LAWS.
1) DO NOT BURN OR BURY RUBBISH AND WASTE MATERIALS ON PROJECT SiTE.
2) DO NOT DISPOSE OF VOLATILE WASTES SUCH AS MINERAL SPIRITS, OIL OR PAINT THINNER IN STORM
OR SANITARY DRAINS.
6. DURING CONSTRUCTION

MAXIMUM OPERATING TEMPERATURE SHOULD NEVER EXCEED 85 'F. RADIANT HEAT COMPONENTS
MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 1/20 SEPARATED FROM KONECTO. THIS IS THE ONLY TYPE OF RADIANT HEAT
THAT IS APPROVED.
2. MATERIAL HANDLING AND STORAGE:
MUST BE STORED IN A WARM, DRY AREA WITH THE CARTONS LYING FLAT, AND NEVER ON EDGE.. DO
NOT EXPOSE TO VERY HOT OR COLD TEMPERATURES. R IS REQUIRED THAT YOU ADAPT MATERIALS TO

TEMPERATURE FOR STORAGE & INSTALLATION:
FLOORING AND SUBFLOOR ROOM TEMPERATURE SHOULD BE BETWEEN 65 ° AND 85 ° FAHRENHEIT.
MAINTAIN PROPER TEMPERATURE FOR 48 HOURS BEFORE AND AFTER INSTALLATION. AFTER THAT,
MAINTAIN TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 55 ° F AND 85' F. THE BUILDING'S HEATING AND AIR -
CONDITiONING SYSTEM SHOULD BE TURNED ON AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE
INSTALLATION. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES MAY RESULT IN AN INSTALLATION FAILURE (I.E.
FLOORING MAY EXPAND OR CONTRACT RESULTING IN GAPPING).
3. SUBFLOOR PREPARATION
IN GENERAL, ALL SUBSTRATES MUST BE FREE OF DIRT, DEBRIS, ETC. WILL CONFORM TO MOST
IRREGULAR SUBFLOORS, BUT CAUTION MUST BE USED IF THE IRREGULARITIES ARE VERY NOTICEABLE
OR ARE OF A SHARPLY DEFINED NATURE.
THESE IRREGULARITIES MUST BE EITHER LEVELED OR FILLED WiTH A HIGH QUALITY CEMENTITOUS
PATCHING MATERIAL.
4. KONECTO TILE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
DMDE THE ROOM INTO EQUAL QUADRANTS USING CHALK LINES. DRY -LAY A ROW OF TILES USING THE
ENCLOSED WAX PAPER TO PROTECT THE KONECTO STRIP, AND THEN FROM THE CENTER LINE TO THE
SIDE WALL DETERMINE THE SPACE LEFT FOR THE BORDERS TiLES ADJUST THE CHALK LINES TO ACHIEVE A
BALANCE LAYOUT WITH EQUAL SIZE BOARDERS ALL AROUND. (THIS CAN READILY BE FIGURED OUT FROM
THE ROOM DIMENSIONS WITHOUT PUTTING DOWN THE TiLES IF DESIRED.)
ONCE THE BORDER TiLES ARE DETERMINED CUT TiLE DOWN TO SIZE. START IN CORNER OF ROOM
WITH BORDER TILES AND LAY DOWN A ROW TO END OF WALL WITH KONECTO STRIP FACING OUT
FROM THE WALL.
THEN LAY ADJOINING ROW CREATING A 90 DEGREE ANGLE. MAKE SURE BY USING A PLUM LINE OR
LASER GUN THAT BOTH ROWS ARE COMPLETELY STRAIGHT AND SQUARE. USE DOUBLE FACE TAPE TO
KEEP BOTH ROWS IN PLACE. IF THE WALL IS UNEVEN, ADJUSTMENTS CAN BE MADE BY SCRIBING THE
BOARDER TILES ON THE OVER EDGE. THEN PROCEED IN LAYING TILES IN A STAIRCASE FASHION. REFER
TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATION FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON TiLE LAYOUT.
IMPORTANT: ALL KONECTO TiLE SEAMS MUST BY ROLLED WiTH A MINIMUM 100 -LB ROLLER AFTER
INSTALLATION. USE A HAND ROLLER IN AREAS NOT REACHED WiTH A 100 -LB. ROLLER.
