6775 SW 64 ST_PB-79-05 NOT APPROVED MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING PLANNING BOARD, CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI MARCH 27 , 1979 The Meeting was called to order by Chairman Smith at 7 : 30 P.M. PRESENT: Edward H. Coburn Bernard Michelson Dwight Price Larry Yar"ic ough Ronald K. Smith ABSENT: Pat Masters Clyde McCoy Mr. William E. Godwin, Director, Building, Zoning and Community Development Department , and Mr. Gilbert Russe , Building Official, were also present. Public Hearing #79-4 Joseph Lewis and Henry Alexander Request : Change of Zoning from RS-3 (Single Family Residential) to RO (Residential Offices) . Legal Description: Lots 7 and 8, Block 1 , Sunset Terrace Subdivision: P .B. 47/60 . Location: 6445-6457 Sunset Drive. Chairman Smith announced that Public Hearing # 79-4 was in session and asked if there was anyone present wishing to speak for this request . Mr. Joseph Lewis and Mr. Henry G. Alexander , co-owners of the property, addressed the Board stating that they desired to change the zoning of the property to RO (Residential Office) . Attorney A. Blackwell Slieglete spoke in favor of a change in zoning that should include a business atmosphere along Sunset Drive and Ludlam Road. Townhouse and Duplex zoning might also be considered, similiar to another project in the area. Chairman Smith asked if there were any people present against the proposed change in zoning. Mr. Donald Blatt , 7048 S .W. 65th Avenue, Mr . J . R. Shulize , 7230 S .W. 64 Ct . , Mr. Angel S . Menendezi , 7110 S . W. 64th Ct . all spoke against the change of zoning ; favoring to keep the residential area as provided in the Master Plan. They do not favor the crowding that the extra traffic and parking of cars would bring . Chairman Smith asked if there was anyone else present wishing to speak for or against the request of the applicant. There being noone, the Public Hearing was deemed closed. -1- 3/27/79 rm i Mr. Coburn expressed his opposition to the request, and stressed the importance of staying with the Master Plan. Mr. Michelson concurred and presented the following motion. MOTION: By Mr. Michelson, seconded by Mr. Yarborough, to deny the request of the applicant for a zoning change. VOTE IN FAVOR TO DENY: YeS - 4 Abstained - 1 (Mr. Smith as he is the . owner of property across the street. ) Absent - 2 the McCoy) MOTION DENIED Public Hearing #79-5 Mrs . Virginia Kucaba Request : Variance to allow an 8 ' -6" rear setback where a 15 ' is required. Legal Description: Lot 7 , Block 3, Tranquility Estates Subdivision, P.B . 78/64 . Location: 6795 S .W. 64th Street . Chairman Smith announced that Public Hearing #79-5 was in session, and asked if there was anyone present wishing to speak for this request.. Mrs . Virginia B. Kucaba, 6795 S.W. 64th Street, addressed the Board. She stated that she desired to construct a Pool , and a Variance would be necessary. - A discussion was had by the Board. Chairman Smith asked if there was anyone wishing to speak against granting of the request of the applicant. There being no one , Chairman Smith deemed the Public .Hearing to be closed. MOTION: By Mr. Yarborough, seconded by Mr. Price, to approve the request as presented. MRS. VIRGINIA KUCABA TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION OF A POOL WITH A REAR SETBACK OF 8 FEET 6 INCHES INSTEAD OF THE REQUIRED 15 FEET AS TO CERTAIN DESCRIBED PROPERTY LOCATED AT 6775 SOUTHWEST 64TH STREET, SOUTH MIAMI , FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the Planning Advisory Board of the City of s South Miami, Florida, has recommended the approval of the variance hereinafter granted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Chairman Smith asked if there was anyone present wishing to speak for or against the change in Zoning Ordinance. Discussion was had by the Board, and they found this request to be favorable. MOTION: By Mr. Yarborough, seconded by Mr. Price, to recommend to City Commission to approve this request. VOTE IN FAVOR OF MOTION: Yes - 5 MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
