After serving a maximum of 12 two (2) consecutive year terms, an appointee shall not be reappointed to the samecommission, board 13 or committee unless at least one year has elapsed between the term limited position and the effective 14 date of commencement of the proposed appointment for a new term; and15 16 WHEREAS,Sec. 2-22 “Term Limits” of the Code of Ordinances, as amended by Ordinance No. 17 06-14-2184, dated April 15, 2014, provides that the appointer, or his or her successor in office, may 18 extend the term limits of his or her appointment with the advice and consent of a majority of the City 19 Commission; and20 21 WHEREAS,Ms. Philips was originally appointed to the Planning Boardin 2011, and her third, 22 two-year term expiredin June 2017;therefore, this will be Ms. Philips’ fourth, two-year term;and23 24 WHEREAS, Mayor and Commission desires toextendthe term limits byre-appointingMs. 25 Philipsto serveon the Planning Boardfor an additional two-year termexceeding the City’s term limit 26 ordinance as an allowable exception.27 28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF 29 SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT:30 31 Section 1.The City Commission hereby finds that an exception should be made for Ms. 32 Ms. Philipsby extendingthe term limits set forth in Section 2-22 of the City’s Code of Ordinancesand 33 she is herebyreappointedto the Planning Boardforan additional two-year term.34 35 Section 2.
