Passed on 2nd Reading: Hearing #85-01 Faith Tabernacle Request: Variance to allow an entry. portico with a 3.95 foot front setback where a twenty-five (25) foot front setback is normally required. Staff recommends approval. The applicant is housed in a long-standing, non-conforming, structure. There is an existing, front concrete porch and steps extending into the required front setback. The applicant would like to construct a cover over the existing porch to protect church attendants and the front door from inclement weather. This would not increase the degree of non-conformity because it does not add square footage and does not extend further into the setback than the existing porch. B. Application for approval of an. entry portico. Applicant: Faith Tabernacle Church Represented by: Rev. Lee H. Jones Location: 7141 S.W. 64 Street Diana Wheeler explained that this is a very old building and the applicant has al�5o requested a setback variance. Rev. Li a Jones .addressed the Board and presented the plans. In response to quest ions by the Board he stated that the porch roof line is above the windows and extends farther than is indicated on the drawings. He also stated his desire to add a wheel chair ramp which is not shown. The Board cautioned against an unsafe ramp which would be too steep and pointed out that a ramp, if installed, would have to wrap around the side of the build- ing in order to conform to the specified angle of incline and would have to be provided with a guardrail as well . Rev. Jones said that he would not request approval for the ramp and would not make the decision about it until a' later date. MOTION: By Jan Hochstim to approve the application subject to the following provisions: 1) The entry canopy be raised above the windows. 2) The pitch of the canopy be the same as the roof of the existing church. 3) The roof finish of the canopy be the same as the existing church. 4) The addition be painted the same color as the existing church. 5) The pediment be filled in solid. 6) The fascia be treated the same as the rest of the trim. 7) Railings be put in on the extension of the steps. VOTE ON MOTION: Yes - 7 MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The Board directed that a copy of the motion be attached to the drawings.
