Dear Reverend Whipple:
This letter is in response to your correspondence addressed to Mr. Gregory J. Oravec, dated April 1, 1998, and
received in the Planning & Zoning offices on April 13, 1998, regarding your proposals for several properties.
Pleaso, be aware that the improvements as proposed under the section entitled "I. Parking Lot" are generally
acceptable, and you should proceed to submit preliminary drawings for review. Please, find attached a copy of
the applicable section of the Land Development Code that addresses this matter(Section 20-9).
Please, be aware that those improvements and uses as proposed under the section entitled 11. Educational and
Senior Citizen Facilities" are not permitted by the Land Development Code for the properties mentioned. These
properties which you list in your correspondence are zoned for single-family residential uses only. You may
wish to request that the Land Development Code be amended by re-zoning the properties which you mention.
If you wish to informally request an amendment to the Land Development Code, a request may be made to the
City Commission at a regular City Commission Meeting or via a letter to the members of the City Commission.
In this way, a member of the City Commission may choose whether or not to sponsor such a change.
If you wish to formally request an amendment to the Land Development Code, you may do so at any time by
submittal of a letter of intent. including a statement of justification for re-zoning, a property survey by a
registered surveyor, proof of ownership and/or powers of attorney, and a completed application form for public
hearing to the Planning & Zoning Department (see attached). Re-zoning applications require that the signatures
of at least 20 percent of all property owners within 500 feet of the subject property or properties be obtained. In
addition, for multiple properties a unity of title agreement is required. The fee for application is $1,500.

and Constructions Regulations. Construction of improvements consisting of asphalt

II. Educational and Senior Citizen Facilities
The Educational Facility will be and expansion of the child care services that are
presently rendered at 6075 S.W. 64th Street, an After-School Tutorial Program, a Youth
Alternative Program for at-risk students who have been suspended from local schools
but would like to continue their academic studies as well as receive counseling.
The Senior Citizen Program will provide hot meals,recreational activities, adult care,
etc.

modules to administer the programs until adequate funding for construction of permanent
improvements have been secured .
