1932-79RESOLUTION NO. 79 WHEREAS, t1lis council is advised that when a- City tax certificate is redeemed at the clerks office payment of the current years tax is not required as a prerequisite to the redemption of such property, and WHEREAS, the failure of the Circuit court clerk to require the payment of current taxes in connection with the redemption of property sold for city taxes militates against the financial interests of the city by creating in the minds of prospective purchasers of city tax certificates misgivings and fear that they --?ill not be protected in the payment of the current years taxes, Now, therefore, be it resolved by the city council of the City of South Miami that Mr. E. B. Leatherman, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Dade County, be and he is hereby respectfully advised of the contention of this council and he is hereby requested to demand hereafter, the payment of the current years city taxes before or at the time c£ the redemption of city tax certificates. A regularly issued tax receipt for current years taxes shall be deemed satisfactory evidence of the payment of such taxes. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of September 1932. RESOLUTION NO. 78 WHEREAS, the resignation of J. L. Yarborough as City Clerk, of the City of South Miami, Florida, becomes effective at this time, which said resignation was heretofore on the 2nd day of August 1932, accepted by this Council to become effection on this date, and whereas an audit of the books and accounts of the said J.L.Yarborough as City Clerk of the City of South Miami has been made and presented to the council by the firm of Purvis, Ring & Mahoney, certified accountants, and whereas said audit shows that the books and accounts of said J.L.Yarborough, City Clerk, has been properly kept and ther he has truly accounted for all monies and other things of value belonging to the City of South Miami and coming into his hand as City Clerk, City Assessor, City Tax Collector or City Treasurer, or from any other source by virtue of his being City Clerk and is therefore entitled to an acquittance from further liability, Therefore now and therefore be it resolved by the'City Council of the City of South Miami, Florida, that the audit of the books and accounts of the said J.L.Yarborough, as City Clerk, assessor, City tax collector or City treasurer be the same and hereby accepted-as a true and correct audit of the things to which it relates, and that the said J.L.Yarborough and his surety company are therefore released and accuitted of and from any and all further claims and demands or liability to the City of South Miami, Florida by reason of the acts of the said J.L.Yarborough as City Clerk, City Tax Collector, City Assessor or City treasurer. Passed and adop'ced this 31st day of August 1932. RESOLUTION N0.` 77 WHEREAS the City of South Miami by the resignation of J.L.Yarborough is without a Clerk. It appears to the Council that some one member should be delegated to act as Cleric in the preservation of City property, re- ceiving of moneys for tax certificates or other sources of revenue, is- suance of permits and to deposit whatever money so taken in the City of South Miami, such authority is hereby delegated to D.J. Red, to continue until otherwise ordered by Council. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 31st day of August 1932.
