Ci DATE: November 14, 1996 E: Agenda Item # � Commission Meeting November 19, 1996 Ratification of PBA Contract The attached resolution authorizes the City Manager to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of South Miami, and the Police Benevolent Association for the 1996 -97 fiscal year. The contract was presented to the members of PBA, and received an affirmative vote. The contract revisions are attached to the resolution, with the amended language underlined. I recommend approval. ARTICLE 8. SHIFTS 1. Seniority shall consist of continuous accumulated paid service by classification with the city. seniority shall be com- puted from the date of appointment to the classification and shall .accumulate during paid absences because of illness, injury, vaca- tion, military or other authorized compensated leave. in the event bargaining unit employees have the same seniority by classification, seniority shall then be determined in the following descending order: uate of Hire by Department /gate of Hire by city /craw pots. 2. Non- probationary patrol and sergeants shall bid (semi- annually) for their choice of shift assignments and days -off.
