Res No 156-96-9910RESOLUTION NO. 156 -96 -9910 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS AT THE SOUTH MIAMI METRO -RAIL TRANSIT STATION; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Transportation Planning Council is scheduled to meet on September 9, 1996, to review items in the current funding cycle, including a proposal for funding the construction of a pedestrian overpass at the South Miami Metro -Rail Station; and, WHEREAS, the Transportation Planning Council recommends to the Metropolitan Planning Organization projects for funding, such as the proposed pedestrian overpass in South Miami; and, WHEREAS, the City of South Miami is construction of a pedestrian overpass to in full support of the connect the community on the east side of the highway with the community on the west side of the highway, and to encourage and increase ridership on the County's rapid transit system, and, WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to express their support and to request of the Transportation Planning Council a favorable recommendation regarding this important project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Mayor and City Commission hereby endorse and express full support for the construction of a pedestrian overpass at the South Miami Metro -Rail Station as proposed by the Metro -Dade Transit Agency. Section 2. The Mayor and City Commission request that the Transportation Planning Council recommend funding of the pedestrian overpass at the South Miami Metro -Rail Station. Section 3. upon approval. This resolution shall take effect immediately
