At the June 7, 2016 City Commission meeting, the Mayor and Commission reviewed the proposed revisions to the City's "Schedule of Fees and Fines." Membership descriptions/types such as teens, adults, South Miami business owners and residents were eliminated from the Fee Schedule. The annual fitness membership fee was set at a flat rate of $200 per patron. Attached is a proposal to adopt a new Fee Schedule for annual membership fees per patron and add an option for dependent children under the age 18 years old, as illustrated in the table below: Description Current Proposed Notes Annual Membership Fee $200/yr. $150/yr. For each child, up to 2 max. in one household Under the proposed plan, the reduction of fees helps eliminate barriers to exercise and encourages community residents to be physically active. Parents or legal guardians that possess an active membership can add up to two (2) dependent children under the age of 18 years old. Each dependent child shall be charged $100 per year and parent(s)/Iegal guardian(s) must be able to prove eligibility. The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to request additional documentation to prove dependency. Up to 2 dependents max 19 WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to request additional 20 documentation to prove dependency. 21 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY 23 OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA THAT: 24 Section 1: The Schedule of Fees and Fines, as approved in Ordinance 09-17-2279, is hereby 25 amended to reduce fitness annual membership fees per patron from the schedule from $200/yr. to 26 $150/yr., and add an option for dependent children under the age of 18 years old at $lOO/yr. The 27 most recently adopted Schedule of Fees Ordinance 09-17-2279, hereto attached, shall remain in 28 full force and in effect and shall include the reduced fitness annual membership fees per patron 29 and add an option for dependent children under the age of 18 years old. 30 Section 2: Any such fees may be waived or reduced by the Mayor and City Commission by 31 way of Resolution. 32 Section 3: Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for any 33 reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not 34 affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution. 35 Section 4: Ordinances in Conflict. All ordinances or parts of ordinances and all sections and 36 parts of sections of ordinances in direct conflict herewith are hereby repealed. 37 Section 5: Effective Date.
