Stoddard, PhD Mayor THE CITY OF PLEASANT LIVING To: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER MEMORANDUM The Honorable Mayor & Members of the City Commission Steven Alexander January 4, 2018 Managers Report Happy new year I would like to bring in the new year brining note to our excellent police force who ensured a very low crime holiday season and who care about their community. I am going to read a letter that the Chief recived regarding one of our super law enforcement persons, in this case Sgt. Rezaie. A photo of the event is being displayed while I read the letter. Hello, My name is Jeff Werner, I spent 10 years in the navy on submarines also as Master at Arms. Police dept have gotten to much bad news press this year and a lot people dont respect you. I attached a picture from last night when your dept arrested an individual for dui while having his 3 year old in the car. I'm actually the one who notifed your officer to pull him over cause I thought he was an hazard. Your sgt went above and beyond taking care off the child. He took him to RA sushi got him ice cream and even got napkins to clean his nose cause he was crying. I wish this was the side of police officers that everyone always saw instead of the bad. I respect you so much for having this personal on your force. Thank you for service, Jeff Werner All of my staff strive to serve the community in this spirit and we are especially proud of the law enforcement team that continues to use community policing practices such as were demonstrated by Sgt. Rezaie to improve our community.
